Letter of remembrance from Dadi Janki

24 Sep 2017

      20/9/2017                                            Om shanti                                           Madhuban

Letter of remembrance from Dadi Janki to all brothers and sisters who are

the decoration of the Brahmin clan, in this land and abroad  - 20th September 2017

Om shanti.  Om shanti.  Om shanti.  Who am I?  Who is mine?  I am a soul and God is mine.  I am a lighthouse.  I have taken might from God and so people of the world will automatically hear this message and experiencing visions, will become equal to the self.  First, we have to become equal to the Father.  Just as Baba is detached and loving to all, similarly, we children also have to become loving and detached.  Each one’s part is unique, no two have the same part, but all belong to the One.

Recently, I was in London for 6 weeks and so there was the pull to come back here.  Now, I am back here, there is the pull of that place.  So, where should I stay?  Whether at amrit vela, in the evening, or when sleeping at night, who comes in my dreams?  Nowadays, Baba has me do service even in my dreams.  Sakar Baba created the yagya, just see how the yagya is moving along and how Baba is making it function!  All the children are using their body, mind and wealth in a worthwhile way.  We have Baba’s company and the knowledge of the drama.  We have to see every scene of the drama as a detached observer.  It is in our intellect that our time, breath and thoughts continue to be used in a worthwhile way because now is the time to study and also earn an income.  Our study is so deep.  Whatever happened in the past, even whatever happened this morning is now finished, I don’t remember any of it even slightly.  What will happen at night, we will see it then!  Now, my attention is on what I have to do now.  There is no tension, but whatever is happening, let there be benefit for everyone.  Let everyone’s time be used in a worthwhile way.  Let your awareness, attitude and vision be so pure and benevolent.  Whatever actions I perform, others seeing me will do the same.  I have this attention because Baba has given us unlimited knowledge and an unlimited inheritance.

Now, everyone will come to Baba’s home to celebrate a meeting with Baba.  In the whole world, it is only we handful out of multimillion fortunate souls who have the fortune to meet God, the Father.  This is the time to celebrate a meeting with God.  We have the inheritance of staying in happiness, peace, love and bliss.  I always remember five things: 1) Truth, 2) Patience, 3) Maturity, 4) Humility, and 5) Sweetness.  Do not even say, “I am speaking the truth.”  Let there be manners in truth.  Let patience, maturity, humility and sweetness become your natural nature – there is great benefit in this.  Forget whatever has passed.  It is very good to be in the present, and so the present will definitely be good, that is guaranteed.  Let my nature be such that no matter what happens, my stage does not shake or fluctuate.  This doesn’t suit me at this time.  A gyani soul keeps the mind peaceful with a stable intellect.

Now, we first have to go home and then return to the golden age.  For that, we now have to become complete with all virtues, sixteen celestial degrees complete and time is making us that.  This time is very valuable.  In the whole cycle, it is only now that we have a chance to earn, and the income we earn is to become complete with all virtues.  For this, continue to look at everyone’s virtues.  Whenever you see anyone’s defects, then it is such that that will become your defect, and therefore, continue to look at virtues.  With your own effort, the virtues will come to you, but by looking at everyone’s virtues, you will become virtuous.  This is an easy way.  It is a big mistake to see anyone’s defects, and so remain careful about this.  Achcha.

Lots of love and remembrance to all.
In God’s service.
B.K. Janki

BK Ambika, Chairperson, SpARC Wing briefly explained the purpose of the conference and appealed to the researchers of every discipline to associate with Brahma Kumaris in spiritual research, for the ultimate benefit of mankind, eliminate the sufferings by transcending the limited thinking process and specially try to bring back India’s lost glory.

For the benefit of the delegates, a short video clip of the founder and Ex-Chairperson of SpARC Wing Late Rajyogi BK Ramesh N Shah’s vision about SpARC Wing and excerpts of his messages conveyed during the previous conferences was beamed.

Rajyogi BK Nirwair, Secretary General, Brahma Kumaris, Mount Abu via video conference, congratulated for hosting the conference.  He listed the problems faced due to natural calamities, technological advancement notwithstanding. To safeguard against loss of lives and properties, he felt that spirituality needed to be explored and fervently hoped that researchers would find time for silence, reflection, imagination and meditation.

Rajyogi Mruthyunjay, Executive Secretary, Brahma Kumaris, spoke about the current global scenario and how spiritual knowledge of BKs could be a solution.  He lamented that despite long years of research, the desire of all human beings to lead a peaceful, healthy, wealthy and happy life is still elusive.  He felt solution to eradicate all problems lies with spirituality to which history is also a witness.  He also stressed the need for researchers to become spiritual and vice-versa and inculcate values.

Chief Guest Shri M Shashidhar Reddy, former Vice Chairman, NDMA, Govt. of India New Delhi said that he was indebted to the BK sisters for remembering the contribution made by his father in setting-up the campus.  He also stated that the teachings of BKs were spread all over the world and that he too would inculcate the teachings to become a better person, in his quest to be of service to humanity.  He also expressed the dire need to be resilient to overcome the day-to-day problems due to the events happening around the world.  He also emphasised that there is a need to understand that human being is a combination of soul and body.

Dr. P. G. Radhakrishna, Director In-Charge, KSSRDI, Bangalore in his very brief speech said that silk is a product of the sacrifice of a silk worm, which all human beings should take note of and do sacrifices for the betterment of all.

Shri Chandra Bhushan, Dy DG, Centre for Science & Environment, New Delhi, said that science does not have a solution for environmental issues despite the best of efforts and hence he felt “efficiency is not sufficiency”. The solution for problems resulting due to climatic changes can be found only with science and spirituality joining hands.

Dr N Bhaskaran, Director, Tamil University, Tamil Nadu quoted Vinobha Bhave – “All evils of the world can be solved only by Spirituality” and went on to state that the problems of the present world can be dealt effectively by blending Science with Spirituality.  He expressed happiness that BKs are spreading value-based knowledge through various courses on Value Education& Spirituality.

Shri Anil Kumar Singh, Dy. Director, DESIDOC, DRDO, Ministry of Defence, New Delhi enlightened the august gathering about the long-standing relationship between DRDO and BKs by going back to the times when Mr APJ Kalam was its head.  He also mentioned about the projects jointly undertaken which were a success and the benefit of meditation to soldiers who were serving in harsh and hostile conditions.

Shri Harish R Bhat, Scientist, Centre for Ecological Sciences, IISc, Bangalore stated that Gyan Sarovar was the place where one could quench the thirst for knowledge and is a place where it is possible to take care and give mother nature its due.

BK Lovely, Faculty, SpARC Wing, Delhi took the entire gathering on a meditative journey with the aid of a guided commentary.

300 BK Sisters surrendered to God Father Shiva in the month of Shravan

21 Sep 2017

300 B K Sisters surrendered to God Father Shiva in the month of Shravan

Parents also participated in the Ceremony

Abu Road, July 19, 2017: The month of Shravan is associated to the Bholanath God Father Shiva. It is taken for granted that the Supreme Soul Shiva gets delighted if one heartily worships Him. What is better than the act of accepting as one’s bridegroom in the month of Shravan? This act happened when 300 young B K sisters from various parts of India handed over the springs of their life to God Shiva and surrendered themselves to the Brahma Kumaris Institution. In this occasion, their parents and relatives also were present.

Addressing thousands of participants in this occasion, Dadi Ratan Mohini, Joint Chief of the Brahma Kumaris, said,” the life in this birth is the best of the lives in all other births. One in whose life God Himself resides, becomes free from all evils. It is great virtue to surrender one’s life in order in order to do Godly services with body, mind and wealth”.

B K Munni, Program Manager, Brahma Kumaris, addressed the surrendered sisters, saying, “Be good and great by inculcating the divine values in life and also be the source of inspiration for others”.

B K Nirwair, General Secretary, Brahma Kumaris, said,” our sisters have showed that if women wish they can change the world, eradicate any dogmatic rites and evil tendencies. These will be successful in changing the society by doing their positive self- transformation”.

B K Brijmohan, Addl. Secretary, B K Mrutyunjay, Executive Secretary, B K Bhupal, Manager of Shantivan, B K Amirchand along with many others expressed their thoughts on the occasion.

What is Surrender?

Those sisters get surrendered, who, after coming in contact with the Brahma Kumaris Institution, observe completely all rules and regulations and practice Rajyoga meditation as trainees. In this act of their surrender ceremony, all rites of divine marriage are observed.

After their surrender, the sisters go to different B K Centres spread throughout the country. By staying there they improve their lives and engage themselves in the service of others. The B K Institution take their full responsibilities.

During the ceremony, they were decorated with yellow head-dresses and were welcomed with the music of band party. They were also made to take the oath to stick to their aims and objectives and to perform the best actions, so that they can be successful in achieving their aims.

4-Day National Media Conference on Values & Meditation Begins in Gyan Sarovar

6 Jun 2017

4-Day National Media Conference on Values & Meditation Begins
‘Report the truth, don’t twist it, for peace, power and protection’- Dadi Janki
‘Meditation & Self Introspection-Key to Effectiveness in Media Profession’-Mr N K Singh

Mount Abu, June 3: A four-day National Media Conference on ‘Values & Meditation for Inner Empowerment of Media Professionals’ organised by the Media Wing of Brahma Kumaris’ Rajyoga Education & Research Foundation began today at its Gyan Sarovar Academy for a Better World here today.

102 years old, Rajyogini Dadi Janki, the Chief of the Brahma Kumaris in a video message, chanting Om Shanti thrice  said, " while the first refers to "inner self as originally a peaceful soul ", the second refers to “Supreme Soul as Ocean of Peac", and the third refers to "always doing duty peacefully” .

She urged the media persons to perform their duties without worries, fear or favour in loving intellectual companionship of God who is the eternal source of inner peace and power. She suggested the media professionals to report news truthfully in a detached manner like a witness without twisting facts in order to experience, peace and protection in professional life.

She also stressed on the need for inculcating values like love, truth compassion, forgiveness, and for promoting these values among the public through mass media as well as through their own life examples.
“Whenever these values will be demonstrated in your practical life, you will reap happy fruits of your positive karma as a result. And when your karma will be good, you will receive  love & protection from God who is synonym of good karma”, she stressed.

Mr. N.K. Singh, Senior TV Journalist and General Secretary, Broadcast Editors' Association, Delhi, cited various problems facing the country, and said, "the media persons, amidst changes in economy and market forces have to be sensitive and selective about news and their publication.”

“The irony is that media often reports about a film stars, cricketers as icons and not the son of vegetable vendor who tops in IAS. Our growth rate is 7.3%, but United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Report states that India is one of the unhappy countries. The media persons do not have the knowledge and understanding of why this is so. The media persons have to raise themselves, introspect and look into their heart for positive and developmental reporting”, he said.

“If we don’t use our discerning mind to separate and select right from wrong and truth from falsity, then we become our and society’s worst enemy. If we merely cater to bestial tastes & flimsy interests of the people for TRP and profit, then we can’t be said to have acted in the best interest and wellbeing of public and society.”

Appreciating the social contributions of the Brahma Kumaris organisation, he said that by practicing and promoting human values and spirituality among the masses, the organisation is contributing towards gross national happiness index." He said that this is real 'inner empowerment' which is not only needed for media professionals but also for people in other professions, sections and segments of society. He urged media persons to learn meditation and inculcate values and spirituality for peace, balance and progress in their personal and professional life.

Mr. Dinkar Raikar, Group Editor, Lokmat group, Mumbai, said, "I used to start and end my day with positive note. The media persons should introspect and think of positivity and drive out all sorts of negativities."
He said that, "I was also a crime reporter and have covered the crime reports, but I was never attacked by any criminals because I had always reported facts and truths without any twisting of the facts and truths. Every day, I used to publish two positive stories in our papers, which is in our hands. To the question of "Who am I?" my answer is: I am somebody who can contribute something positive to the society, the nation and to the welfare of the people.", he emphasized.

Mr. Anil Rai, Managing Editor, News World India, Noida, said, "Since the inception of social media, priority is given to negative news. In films and T.V. also immorality, violence and negativities are often displayed. Spiritual news and articles have been relegated to the background, as they appear in fourth or fifth page or in the supplementary. But, it does not mean that all news is negative; the editorials are still positive."
The problem of media persons is that whenever they go the root of depth of the news, they forget their own selves; they neglect the family, and thereby allow the news to overwhelm them in a negative manner. Practice of spiritual wisdom and mediation is the way to make them tension-free and to make their media contents positive and salutary."

Dr. K. Ramchandra Murty, Editorial Director, Sakshi Media Group, Hyderabad, expressed his anguish over the problems of farmers and media persons. Citing the issues of Naxalites' problem and of the farmers' suicide, he said that we have failed in tackling the Naxalites' problem, and, since 1998, more than 5 lakhs farmers have committed suicide for no fault of their own, because though their yield was good, yet they got less price.

Mr. Rajiv Ranjan Nag, Member, Press Council of India said that the market forces, pressures and control of the government upon media have become unprecedented. As a result of which there is no ethical priority in media now, and we are unable to make truthful and positive reporting. There is also the pressure from the management of media houses for hefty profit. The media houses are going to control 42% of population, and try to control reporting and dole out news as per their own volition.
“I think, practice of yoga and Rajyoga meditation will somehow give us soul-power, allow us a chance to self-introspect, and help us in writing and reporting news”, he said. While some are busy in marketing yoga, Brahma Kumaris organization is popularizing values, spirituality and rajyoga meditation among people free of cost, he stressed.

Rajyogi Br Nirwair, General Secretary, the Brahma Kumaris in his video message, said "Today, everybody feels stressful. That is why realization of peace has becomes difficult. I hope that during the conference, the media persons will recognize their real self, the Supreme Self and connect with Him through Rajyoga meditation, and thereby restor the real peace and happiness in self and society."

Rajyogini Dadi Ratan Mohini, Joint Chief of the Brahma Kumaris, said, "The media persons have sharp intellect, and by using your pen and camera in spiritual and value based way, they can promote peace, harmony, and universal brotherhood under the spiritual fatherhood of one incorporeal Supreme Soul. She urged the participants to know their real self and meditate on God to enhance their soft skill and positive qualities for the betterment of people and the society.

Prof. Kamal Dixit, National Convenor, Media Initiative for Values, Bhopal, in his keynote address, said, "Inner empowerment" means the empowerment of the inner self, not of the physical body. The inner empowerment of the media professionals refers to the empowerment of the 'inner invisible souls' of the media professionals. Now, it is the call of time for the media professionals to recognize the soul, your true and real spiritual identity for self-transformation leads to world-transformation.

Rajyogi Br Karuna, Chairperson, Media Wing said, "In the month of June, people are conscious of the Yoga of Physical Exercises, which renders physical health, whereas the Rajyoga of Brahma Kumaris renders both physical and mental as well as spiritual health. He said that values are developed through raj-yoga meditation which can bring the inner empowerment for personal and professional effectiveness of media professionals.

While Sr Sheilu, Senior Faculty, the Brahma Kumaris, conducted mass meditation through her powerful meditation commentary, Br Atam Prakash, Vice Chairperson Media Wing, offered vote of thanks.

Yudhisthir.

Participating in the Inaugural Session as the Chairperson, B.K. Nirwair, the Secretary General of the Brahma Kumaris, addressed the children and said, “The best of the children are shown to be the child Krishna and child Radha. Every father and mother expects their children to be like the child Krishna and child Radha. They had divine qualities and virtues in their character and behavior. So, you child should think to be like them by imbibing the spiritual knowledge and Rajayoga education.”

B.K. Shielu, Head Quarter Co-ordinator, Education Wing, Mount Abu, welcomed all the guests, speakers and the audience, and said, “The development of children through inculcation of values is the need of the hour. In this camp, their intellectual development will also be made through various programmes and competitions. Brahma Baba, the founding father of this organization, had also great love for the children. Now, you children should show the father through your good behavior and actions.”

Highlighting the objectives of the camp, Dr. B.K. Harish Shukla, National Co-ordinator, Education Wing, Mount Abu, said, “The future of the country lies in the hands of the present children. You will be the future citizens of the country. You are responsible for the uplift of the character of the country and the world. You will learn and inculcate the teachings of this spiritual university the through games and sports.  You can also get self-realization by experiencing the power of mediation, and try to be like gods and goddesses.”

B.K. Karuna, Multi-media Chief of the Brahma Kumaris, while offering his good wishes, said, “Here, the Brahma Kumaris organization is both a school and home for you. Everything is taught here through games and sports. In other educational institutions, children aim at becoming doctors, lawyers and engineers. But, here you have the noble aim of becoming deities like Radha and Krishna through this spiritual study.”

Rajyogini B. K. Prabha, Zonal Co-ordinator, Education Wing, Gujarat, while offering her good wishes, said, “Brahma Baba used to say that children are like great souls (Mahatma). Great soul (Mahatma) means pure and honest. You children are truthful in your minds and are the apple of all eyes. By inculcating truth and divine qualities, you can fulfill all hopes of the God Father.”

B.K. Ved Guliani, Executive Member, Education Wing, Hisar, at last offered vote of thanks to all guests, speakers and the whole gathering.

Sister B.K. Ravikala, Executive Member, Education Wing, Mount Abu, co-ordinated the stage activities very effectively and successfully with her choicest and touching words, phrases and sentences.

Valedictory Session of the Educators' Conference at Mount Abu

29 May 2017

Mount Abu (Gyan Sarovar): Participating in the Valedictory Session of the University and College Educators' Conference on Value Education & Spirituality at 6.00 pm on 14th May, 2017 at Gyan Sarovar Auditorium, Prof. H.M. Maheswaraiah, Vice Chancellor, Central university of Karnataka, Kalaburagi, quoted S. Radhakrishnan's statement and said, "While the destiny of the nation is built in classrooms, the teachers are the architectures of the nation. Today, though students are educated yet they do not have the conscience (Vivek). So, the role of education should awake their conscience through social, emotional and cognitive development." He praised the courses on Value Education & Spirituality prepared by the Brahma Kumaris Institution and suggested for the introduction of this course in curriculum by revising it.

In this Valedictory Session, others speakers highlighted on the topic "Educators' Role in Transforming the Society".

Dr. Uma Shankar Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Maharana pratap University of agriculture and technology, Udaipur, Rajasthan, said, "In the past, social uplift was possible through Gurukul system of education, but today blind imitation of western civilization is going on. Therefore, there are many problems in our society, which can be solved through value, moral and spiritual education. The Value Education & Spirituality courses of the Brahma Kumaris can greatly help in this direction." He expressed his wish for signing an MoU with the Education Wing of Rajyoga education & research Foundation (RERF), a sister organization of the Brahma Kumaris.

Prof. T. Balaram Krishna, Chairman, TSR &TBK, Degree Colleges & Schools, shared his long association and experiences with the Brahma Kumaris Institution and said, "The Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya is the only university in true sense of the term. Its ideal, noble, and elevated teachings on spiritual, value and Rajyoga education system will go a long away in establishing heaven upon the planet earth in near future."

B.K. Mruthyunjaya, Vice Chairperson, Education Wing, Mount Abu, said, "At present, there are communalization of human relations, commercialization of education and criminalization of politics and administrative systems instead of their moralization, spiritualization and divinization. Education has become a money-making missionary instead of being man-making missionary. Man, today, has become only taker instead of being the giver. People have turned consumerist (Bhogi) and diseased (Rogi) instead of being yogi. The Brahma Kumaris Institution is working for the divinization of human beings and transformation of man (Nar) into Shree Narayan and woman (Nari) into Shree Lakshmi. Now, the time has come to awake from the deep slumber and acquire spiritual, value and Rajyoga education, and thereby get the self-realization and God-realization and work for the world-transformation.

B.K. Ved Guliani, Executive Member, Education Wing, Hisar, said, "Among the three professions such as defence, medical and education, the profession of education is the most elevated one. The educators play a significant role of transforming the people of the society and world. The first and foremost aim of teachers should be to help the students in manifesting the perfection already hidden within them."

Sister B.K. Suman, Programme Co-ordinator, Education Wing, Gyan Sarovar, said, "Self-transformation leads to world-transformation. Whatever is the inner that will become the outer. So, the teachers should transform them first on the basis of value, spiritual and Rajyoga education and become the role models for the students, who imitate them in their life." She also transported the gathering to the metaphysical soul world to make connection of the souls with God, the Supreme Father.

B.K. Rajesh, Executive Member, Education Wing, Shantivan, gave a Power Point Presentation (PPP) of the value and spiritual RECIPE (Rajyoga Education for Consciousness Improvement Programme of Educators).

Dr. B.K. Yudhisthir, Executive Member, Education Wing & Associate Editor, The World Renewal magazine, Shantivan, presented the report and appealed the educators to follow and implement the following resolutions in their life:

As a child of God I will play my role as a perfect actor in this Eternal World Drama (EWD) of life.
I will do my task when it comes to me during the passage of time.
I will be the change first what I want to see in the world.
I will live in the present, for present is the foundation of future.
I will stand for truth; fight for truth; and hoist the flag of truth irrespective of whatever may come in the path of truth.
I will do the drills both for the mind and body for achieving healthy mind and healthy body.
I will practise Rajayoga to be a person of good character, a karma yogi and reach my final destination and ultimate destiny.
I will try my best to lead a values-and-spirituality-based life.

Initially, B.K. Nitin, Gyan Sarovar, rendered a touching song.

Sister B.K. Indra, Senior Rajyoga teacher, Mount Abu, co-ordinated the stage activities very effectively and successfully.

28 May 2017

Divine Family

Mount Abu- Gyan Sarovar: "The world now faces a plethora of problems. The time has now come to understand that we cannot go on with the business as usual. Innovation in linear way is not sufficient and sustainable. We have to understand the importance of values and spirituality and bring them back to life if we are to build a sustainable and inclusive society." Prof. M. Jagadesh Kumar, Vice Chancellor, JNU, New Delhi said this while inaugurating the University and College Educators' Conference on Value Education & Spirituality, as Chief Guest,

Dadi Janki, Chief of the Brahma Kumaris, said, "The three Om Shanti refers to "Who am I?, Who is mine? and What have I to do here? God has taught me the art of life and has given me the thought of doing good to others. It is the values of Truth, Cleanliness and Simplicity that have worked wonders in my life."

Br Nirwair, Secretary General & Chairperson, Education Wing, said, "Other universities are making teachers, doctors, engineers but the Brahma Kumaris University is making the human beings deities through value education, spiritual education and Rajyoga, thereby justifying the saying "Man is made in the image of God". He appealed to the educators to discover, identify and inculcate the values them in their personal life first before teaching them to the students.

Br Mruthyunjaya, Vice Chairperson, Education Wing, said, "Today, the saying "Knowledge is power" means the power to make money instead of man-making. The Brahma kumaris is working to make India a Divine India, going a step ahead of Digital India. Today, we develop solar power but have forgotten soul power. The Gyan Murli of Brahma Kumaris opens the third eye of knowledge. The holistic Value & Spiritual Education will make India Vishwa Guru."

Prof. S.A. Kori, Executive Director-cum-Member Secretary, Karnataka State Higher Education Council, Bengaluru, praised highly the Brahma Kumaris for working for the spiritual uplift of the humanity through Value Education & Spirituality, which our education policies and universities have failed to do so. He said, "Education opens the mind but spirituality opens the heart."

Sr Shukla, Director, ORC, Gurugram, said, "Today's education is almost directionless. Value & Spiritual Education can fill one with knowledge, qualities and powers; awaken the human spirit and help in leading a balanced life."

Dr. Manpreet Singh Mann, Director, AICTE, New Delhi, said, "Today, the major deficiency is the mental deficiency. We think much but do not contemplate and churn at all. We have failed to give mental health to our children and students. Consequently, as a result, consumer market, India is placed in 3rd rank in the world but in innovation it has 63rd rank in the world."

Prof. Ved Prakash, former Chairman, UGC, New Delhi, threw light on the fundamental duties enshrined in the Constitution of India and appealed to the teachers' community to identify values in them and try to inculcate them personally and help the students to inculcate them in life.

Dr. Br Harish Shukla, National Co-ordinator, Education Wing (RERF), heartily welcomed the guests and speakers on the dais and the audience, and said that the world can change only with the power of spirituality.

Dr. Br K Pandiamani, Director, Value Education Programme, detailed about the various Value Education & Spirituality courses offered in 11 languages through 13 universities.

Full English Translation of PM Modi's Speech on the BK's 80th Anniversary

28 May 2017

My cordial greetings to the members of Brahma Kumaris Institution and to all participants who came across from national and foreign lands to attend the nternational Cultural Conference, Omshanti. It is a matter of deep pride that Brahma Kumaris movement has successfully completed 80 years of existence and is surely a proud moment for the divine soul of Dada Lekh Raj Ji, Founder of Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University. He has given an institutional structure to the organization and has given an immense contribution in empowering women. It is a popular trend all around the globe to celebrate 25 years,50 years or 100 years in the form of jubilees. In India, a time cycle of 80 years holds a special importance. When a person or an organisation completes 80 years of its lifespan, it is considered as Sahastra Chandra Darshan Parva, which signifies that a person or institution has experienced full moon one thousand times.

Founded with the gigantic efforts of Dada Lekh Raj ji, today BrahmaKumaris Institution is at an extraordinary stage of Sahastra Chandra Darshan. On this occassion I wish the institution to continue to progress in its mission of spreading peace and universal brotherhood with a fresh breeze of enthusiasm. Yesteryear, Dada Janki has turned a hundred years of age. I pay my heartfelt gratitude to Dadiji for blessing us all like a true Karamyogi even till today. After two days we will be celebrating the festival of Cheti Chaitra. In India we celebrate Samvatsar , I pay my heartily greetings and best wishes on the occasion of Nav Samvatsar and Cheti Chand.

I have been fortunate to visit your organization and experience unconditional love many times. 80 years is a big time span for any organization. In present times it is often noticed that any group or institution begins to form groups, dissolves or breaks apart in around 15-20 years. It is truly a nurturing of Dada Lekh Rajʼs dedication and values that even after 80 years of its origin Brahma Kumaris is consistently working towards universal harmony and brotherhood through their spiritual knowledge. Millions of your followers are working in spiritual and humanitarian dimensions in every nook and corner of the world and I felicitate you all for this.

Itʼs my good fortune to be in your close proximity , understanding divine intellects and inherit divine virtues from you. Due to a busy schedule, I cannot mark my presence on this auspicious occasion. I am glad to meet you all through this medium of video conferencing. Brahma Kumaris impose peculiar work procedures and today we have witnessed one of them. You have felicitated me through the medium of light which I am watching on TV Screen. The institution is making constant efforts to disseminate the knowledge worldwide under the paramount leadership of Dada Lekh Raj and Dadi ji in the same manner as you tried to spread the light by switching a torch.

Brahma Kumaris everlasting efforts stands testimony to peculiarity of nation. India is a country with nerves of steel to say -God is One. God is worshipped differently in each religion and many parts of the world. They believe God has different forms, that’s not our contemplation. Since ancient times our scriptures and holy man have rendered the knowledge of ‘EKumsat Vipra Bahua Vadantiʼ meaning Truth is one, Sages call it in different ways.

It is a proud moment for me to know about inaugural ceremony of a Solar Power Project held today at Shantivan Complex. It was a wonderful opportunity for me to observe all the activities of your hospital located in Shantivan and the medical services offered to underprivileged. Its my pleasure to relive the fact that Brahma Kumaris took an initiative to adopt renewable sources like solar energy many years ago for carrying out various day to day activities in your complex. This is an organization which has adopted modes of solar energy at the time when the issue of global warming was not much talked about. This is an impeccable example of working with optimism and futuristic approach. The initiatives taken by your organization is bringing out a new revolutionary change for a better future . With the power of positive thoughts and self determination, man can achieve new heights and your initiative to produce 3 megawatts of solar energy will be a milestone in this direction.

Earlier we took a solar power initiative in neighboring state Gujarat, under which governments from all Indian states were encouraged to design different modules based on solar power. Now Shantivan has also joined the league for protection of environment. It is a great initiative through which meals for 38 thousand persons can be cooked everyday by using solar energy. Apart from that, your mission to promote solar energy by encouraging use of solar lantern, home lightening systems, cooking boxes etc will bring a new change in the society at large. The organization has made continuous attempts not only to augment spirituality but has also set an example for bringing about a change and transforming lives of the poor.

At present, Global warming is one of the major challenge faced by many countries of the world ,including India. It is our goal to achieve 40 percent of the required energy through non fossil fuel and conventional sources by year 2030. After 75 years of independence, the need of hour is to undertake initiatives based on renewable sources of energy. We aim at a grand target of producing 175 Giga watt of energy using conventional resources. If Government, society and organizations continue to move forward in the same direction, it will be a big step in conservation of nature, serving the mankind and almighty authority. I felicitate Brahma Kumaris for undertaking appreciable initiatives for conservation of nature. In Indian culture trees are considered sacred and holds a special importance. We are tirelessly working towards conservation of nature through various initiatives like Harit Kranti, Dughdh Kranti and Urja Kkranti and I would like to congratulate you all for supporting these initiatives. Indian government has set an initiative to place around twenty two crore LED bulbs in municipal corporation offices, state government offices and households in order to cut off an approximate expenditure of 11 thousand crores.

There are around 8500 Brahma Kumaris centers and millions of followers. All BK brothers and sisters can create an awareness about usage of LED bulb to bring a change in the lives of common man. Earlier an LED bulb costed around 400-500 rupees but today it costs around 50 to 70 rupees. Therefore ,this initiative can also be clubbed with various initiatives run by BKWSU. At present we are dependent on non conventional sources of energy like diesel and petrol. These sources are imported from foreign countries, on a very high expenditure. By adopting conventional sources of energy like wind energy, hides energy and solar energy. This expenditure can be cut off and used for empowering the poor. Your comprehensive contribution in this regard is highly appreciated. As per ancient Indian scriptures, exploiting nature is a crime.

The Brahma Kumaris motto- One god one world family is also contemplation of our country. The ancient concept of Vasudev Kutumbkam or universal brotherhood traces its origins in India. Our nation is endeavored for justice, dignity and prosperity. Protecting the nature through medium of International Solar a lliance is another recognizable outcome of Indiaʼs initiatives towards conservation of nature. The nation got independence 75 years ago and it is duty of every citizen to work towards development of the nation and fulfilling dreams of all those who sacrificed their lives for the nation.

In the past few days, we took a major step to demolish pillars of corruption and black money from Indian economy through the process of demonetization. Digital technique forms an important aspect of this revolution. Implementation of cashless transaction methodology will empower the entire system. I request all Brahma Kumaris brothers and sisters to encourage small and medium level entrepreneurs for making cashless transaction through the medium of BHIM Application, accessible on mobile phones. Today I joined you through the medium of technology, and have a firm faith that this organization will be a vital element in betterment of the country through a revolutionary transformation.

Brahma Kumaris mission has an active involvement of Brahma Kumari sisters along with Brahma Kuamar brothers. In present times, a large number of children of our country are deprived of vaccination, resulting in high infant mortality rate due to fatal diseases. There are a number of alarming situations like high infant- mother mortality rate and malnutrition. Under Indradhanush vaccination scheme, Indian government aim at providing vaccination to children in every house hold. Through this platform, I would like to encourage Brahma Kuamaris to volunteer their services in saving lives of millions of children, serving the mankind a large scale with their involvement in various vaccination programs.

I hereby insist Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University to design an online certification course on the subject of nutrition. There is a lot of unawareness about nutrition, adequate intake of food and healthy food habits among Indian population. Can you start this movement in collaboration with other universities of India, in order to eradicate the problem of malnutrition from Indian societies. Brahma Kumaris, a mission with a massive involvement and active participation of women can be a major contribution in this regard. I request you to formulate strategies in this direction and assure all possible assistance from Government Of India for this project. It is important for young girls studying in 9 to. 12 standards to be educated about nutrition. You can play a vital role in transforming their lives in the best possible manner.

Government of India has formulated various schemes and programs for women empowerment. Earlier a maternity leave of 12 weeks was granted to working women class of nation. The initial days are crucial for newborns as well as mother. We are pleased to inform you that now the period of maternity leave has been extended from 12 weeks to 26 weeks as the proximity of mother put a deep impact on a childʼs health. With this India has joined the league of very few nations who grant a maternity leave for a period of 26 weeks to working women. Till today even the strong economies of the world does not grant a maternity leave of 26 weeks and India has taken a big step in empowering women by granting working women a maternity leave for 26 weeks. Empowering women can create a new wave of energy and pace for towards development and prosperity of the nation. Government of India has started various schemes for women like Sukanya Samridhi Yojna, Financial assistance to pregnant women, Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Yojana. Ujjwala yojna is one of the latest developments under this category. Women from poor sections of the society used earthen cook stove for preparing the meals , which produces a heavy amount of smoke from burning of wood. As per medical health reports a woman inhale smoke equal to that of smoke produced by 400 cigarettes in a day affecting not only health of women but also children playing nearby. Keeping the hazardous consequences in mind, Government of India has started an initiative for providing LPG gas connections to the poor sections of the society. Since past ten months we have provided around 2 crore LPG connections and aim to achieve a target of providing new connections to 3 crore poor families in next three years.

We are constantly working in he direction of women empowerment and active participation of Brahma Kumaris volunteers can be a vital component in this regard. Protecting the nature, empowering women, bringing a positive change in lives of children are some of the important fidelities. I marked my presence on the occasion of 80th anniversary through technology and have a firm belief that Brahma Kumaris mission is a light house in spiritual dimensions and welfare of the society. Founded by Dada Lekh Raj Ji , Brahma Kuamris movement is embarking a new wave of energy in the world.

In spite of being 100 years of age, DadiJiʼs hard work is a true motivation for the younger generations and will inspire them to work with utmost enthusiasm and determination. Dada Janki has also been ambassador of Swatch Bharat Abhiyan. I belief that you all Brahama Kuamars and Brahma Kumaris will continue to support us for Swatch Bharat Abhiyan. We have a long way to go and should aim at reaching our goals by year 2022. I have been a part of celebrations today and faithfully appeal you to contribute in some of our initiatives. Being Inspired with purity, your strong capabilities, manpower and determination enhances the probability of achieving the desired goals. I look forward to seeking your support in creating a happy and prosperous world.

Once again I congratulate you all on this auspicious occasion of 80 anniversary of Brahma Kumaris. Thank you for inviting me to be a part of the elebrations. OmShanti OmShanti OmShanti.

University and College Educators' Conference at Mount Abu - Reception Session

28 May 2017

The Reception Session of the University and College Educators' Conference on Value Education & Spirituality organized by the Education Wing of Rajayoga Education & Research Foundation (RERF), a sister organization of Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalay, commenced at 6.00 p.m. on 12th May, 2017 in the auditorium of Gyan Sarovar, Mount Abu, Rajasthan with inquisitive participation of almost 600 University and College Educators from different parts of India. They were welcomed with bouquets, badges, song and speech.

Dr B.K. R.P. Gupta heartily welcomed them, saying, "A teacher lives less for himself but more for the society. Teachers should be instrumental for halting the further deterioration of the standard of education through introducing value and spirituality into the curriculum, and inculcating value and spirituality in their personal life."

Shri Amit Aggarwal, Chairman of Jaipur Engineering College & Research Centre (JECRC) & University, Jaipur, Rajasthan, said, "In India epics like The Ramayan, The Mahabharat, The Gita, The Upanishad and Purans are valuable documents that teaches values. Earlier, the country had the culture of Shiksha and Deeksha. Today, our students have Shiksha but no Deeksha. Whatever progress and prosperity are made in the world are due the efforts of youth. Our youth have potentialities which need to be harnessed. Value and spirituality are the missing links in our education. Our youth need Deeksha for fulfilling this gap."

Prof. Radheshyam Sharma, Former Vice Chancellor, Cahudhury Devilal University & Guru Jambeswar University, Haryana, said, "Not only in our country but also in the whole world, people are in tension-ridden, hopeless and despondent. The reason is the lack of value education and spirituality, which the Brahma Kumaris Instituion is providing now. On the basis of values, India was world teacher (Vishwaguru). Our youth urgently need this value education and spirituality through which they can get purity in body, mind and heart."

Dr. Rewat, Pro-President of Madhav University, said, "Now there are more than 700 universities in India, but there is lack of values. If one gets anything easily, he does not give any value to it. With efforts, one can understand the value of things. With good company, one can develop good qualities. With the company of the Brahma Kumaris, I learn to perceive the world as a vast family."

Dr. B.K. Nirmala, Director, Gyan Sarovar, said, "Values have the highest place in the society. One can change one's life with value education. Once, India had great honour due to its tradition of values and spirituality. Now, people are addicted to intoxicants like cigarette and liquor. Corruption is everywhere. People have knowledge of bad impacts of these, but due to lack of power, they cannot get rid of all these. Value and spiritual education of Brahma Kumaris can help them get rid of all these and generate in them the spirit of universal brotherhood."

B.K. Shielu, National Co-ordinator, Education Wing, transported the audience to the metaphysical world of peace and silence through her powerful meditation commentary.

B.K. Supriya, Executive Member, Education Wing, made a nice presentation of Rajyoga Thought Lab, highlighting how positive thought can bring about changes in life of youth and people.

'Brahma Kumaris is for people of all faiths’ - Ambassador of Nepal speaks at Brahma Kumaris 80th Anniversary Celebrations

16 April 2017

Abu Road, March 29: The Brahma Kumaris are empowering people to lead a life of peace, and it will soon turn into a socio-spiritual revolution, Deep Kumar Upadhyay, Ambassador of Nepal to India, said here today. He was speaking during the 80th anniversary celebrations of the institution at its Shantivan campus.

Bhimsen Das Pradhan, an MP from Nepal, said that Brahma Kumaris is not a religion but a secular fold that included people of all faiths, and it is giving light to the whole world. “Had it been a religion, it would have fragmented by now,” he said.

Recalling his experiences of serving the nation abroad, former Indian diplomat Ashok Kumar Attri said, “In whichever country we work, we try to present India in good light. Brahma Kumaris are the biggest ambassadors of our country because they represent our culture.”

He was impressed by the smooth management at the Brahma Kumaris campus. “Nobody is being told anything here; everything seems to be going on effortlessly,” he said.

Wajood Sajid, Editor-in-Chief, VNI, said that the Muslim greeting ‘assalam alekum’ was the translated version of Om Shanti and vice versa. He said the founder of Brahma Kumaris did a great job by handing over the administration to women because the universe is beautiful because of mothers and sisters.

Nawab Jafar Mir Abdullah, president, Imamia Educational Trust, said that the foundational pillars of Islam and the Brahma Kumaris were the same – both believed in the oneness of God.

Rajiv Nishaana, Group Editor, Samachar Varta, urged the Brahma Kumaris to initiate more workshops for journalists so that they could experience peace of mind, as it was a rarity in the profession.

Senior Rajyogi Br Surya said if India combined its political and spiritual powers, it could become a lighthouse for the rest of the world. “We are citizens of a great country. Let us take it back to its original glory,” he said.

Sr Shukla, National Coordinator, BK Security Services Wing, said the three things essential to bring about a change in the self were knowledge, will power and the art of transformation. Faith in the self and in God formed the foundation of a good life, she said.

Dr. Savita, Coordinator, BK Women’s Wing, said that spirituality gave us a mirror in which we could see ourselves and our shortcomings, and Rajyoga meditation was the means to change one’s thinking.

Pondicherry Governer, Ms Kiran Bedi Addresses the Valedictory Session at 80th Anniversary Celebrations

15 April 2017

Good people must join public service to change India: Kiran Bedi

Abu Road, March 29: The Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, Her Excellency Kiran Bedi, today called for youth with values and character to join public service in order to bring about positive change in the country.

Speaking during the valedictory session of the Brahma Kumaris’ 80th anniversary celebrations, Bedi put forth three suggestions to promote social transformation and to improve the lot of the elderly and the terminally ill.

She said that instead of putting pressure on children to succeed in a particular profession, parents needed to teach them human values. Once children acquired such values, they were bound to become good engineers, doctors or politicians, she said.

“This is why the Prime Minister is promoting yoga”, she said, adding that the Puducherry government had decided to make yoga an integral part of school education in the union territory.

Bedi then said the country would change only when government officials, who influence and implement policies, changed. She suggested that the Brahma Kumaris help provide coaching to youth associated with the institution so that they could join public administration.

“When these youth join public services, they will bring their values with them…. Public service must not become a business; a public servant should have the spirit of service”, she said.

She also suggested that the Brahma Kumaris help provide palliative care to the elderly and the terminally ill, as there was a severe shortage of such care in the country. “No one can give better palliative care than our Brahma Kumari sisters…. It needs no money, only compassion”, she said.

Call to declare Mount Abu a global spiritual city

Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Bandu Athawale has assured government support for a suggestion to make Mount Abu in Rajasthan a world spiritual city.

Speaking during the valedictory session of the Brahma Kumaris’ 80th anniversary celebrations, he applauded the organisation for its noble work in several fields, including women’s empowerment and environment, and said no progress was possible without peace.

Earlier, addressing dignitaries attending the four-day celebrations, Santosh Bhartiya, Editor-in-Chief of Chauthi Duniya, made the proposal to declare Mount Abu, an abode of holy men for centuries, a spiritual city.

BK Mruthyunjay, Executive Secretary of the Brahma Kumaris, said that there were many religious cities in the world, but there was no city of spirituality on the international map. He said the organisation would make all efforts to make India a spiritual “lighthouse and might-house” for the world.

Earlier, Dr. A.K. Merchant, National Trustee and Secretary General, Lotus Temple and Bahai Community of India, said there was need to reflect on the five macro-level challenges faced by humanity, including climate change, financial upheavals, proliferation of nuclear weapons, human rights violations, and mismanagement of critical natural resources. All current problems, he said, must be resolved with a combination of science and spirituality.

Apprising the audience of the India One Solar Thermal Power Project in Abu Road, its Project Head, BK Golo Pilz, said an initiative that started 25 years ago was now a source of energy at the Brahma Kumaris’ Shantivan campus.

He said he had benefitted a great deal from his connection with the organisation, and firmly believed that the way to resolving global issues like climate change was to transform human consciousness because the physical world is the manifestation of the inner world.

Gujarat Governor OP Kohli Addresses International Conference During 80th Anniversary Celebrations

15 April 2017

Social change must be based on spirituality, values: Gujarat governor

Abu Road, March 28: Positive social change can be brought about only by a movement based on values and spiritual principles, and the Brahma Kumaris are working for this, Gujarat Governor O P Kohli said here today.

Addressing thousands of dignitaries who have gathered at the Shantivan campus of the institution for its 80th anniversary celebrations, Kohli said many current social problems were the result of society turning away from spirituality towards a materialistic ethos.

“After we gained independence, there was no strong movement for social and cultural development, and as a result we see many flaws in society”, Kohli said, adding that selfishness and lack of harmony were among the problems.

Spirituality and universality were the two special features of Indian culture, he said, adding that there was need for a movement for social change, which would come from change in individuals, for which a belief in a supreme power was needed.

Asserting that moral values were based on spirituality, he called for a positive and value-based perspective to bring about change in youth.
The Brahma Kumaris, he noted, were working to change people from within and give their life the right direction. He lauded the institution’s work in the areas of women’s empowerment and ecological conservation, and its role in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

Earlier, V. K. Saraswat, former director general of DRDO, said that man was the link between the material and the natural world and elevating human consciousness was necessary to create harmony between the two.

H.H. Bhikku Sanghsena, Founder of Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre, Ladakh, said that Brahma Kumaris provided great inspiration for women’s empowerment. “Somehow it is believed that women can’t do as well as men, which is absolutely wrong.” He sought collaboration with such like-minded organisations for making the world a better place.

Markandey Adhikari, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, SAB Group, said that in the present time of insecurity and instability, Brahma Kumaris was doing great service through its centres round the world. He urged media houses to highlight its work, noting that TV channels were inundated with negative images.

Kailash Adhikari, Director, Governance Now, said that in the fast-paced modern life, people were missing the experience of happiness, peace, and contentment, which reside in one’s heart.

Shailesh Kumar, Group Editor, PTC News, said that in a world where even religious places had been commercialised, and where extremism and war were pushing humanity to the edge, the Brahma Kumaris were a beacon of hope. He applauded the organisation for taking up the cause of peace.

Dr. Archika, MD, Disha TV, said that peace was a pre-requisite to progress; it begins from the self and spreads to the world. “Peace is gained when we organise and manage our life, especially when there are challenges, and fill ourselves with gratitude and forgiveness.”

Justice V. Eswaraiah, former chairperson, National Commission for Backward Classes, said that behind the expanse of the services of the Brahma Kumaris was knowledge given by the Almighty Himself. It was a thing to be experienced personally, he said.

Applauding the work of the Brahma Kumaris, Kavinder Gupta, Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, said that development needed to be holistic.

Brahma Kumaris are Strengthening Roots of Indian Culture: Assam Governor Speaks at 80th Anniversary Celebrations

15 April 2017

Abu Road, March 28: The country is being divided on the lines of caste and religion, but these divisions are not a part of our culture, and they should be removed, Assam Governor Banwarilal Purohit said here today.

Speaking during the 80th anniversary celebrations of the Brahma Kumaris, Purohit said Indian civilisation had survived because it was based on dharma, and the Brahma Kumaris were keeping the roots of dharma healthy.

The work of the Brahma Kumaris was eulogised by Purohit, the Governor of Gujarat, and several other dignitaries attending a four-day International Conference-cum-Cultural Festival being held to mark the anniversary.

“There is no institution as pure and great as the Brahma Kumaris in this country”, the Assam Governor declared, adding that he had been “mesmerised” by his visit to the institution’s Shantivan campus.

Recalling the seven social sins mentioned by Mahatma Gandhi, among them worship without sacrifice, he said he saw total sacrifice in the Brahma Kumaris. “You are doing God’s work”, he said, and urged people to connect with the organisation.

Seeing the use of solar energy by the Brahma Kumaris, including a solar steam cooking system used to prepare meals for up to 40,000 people, had been an eye-opener for him, the governor said.

Earlier, Gujarat Governor O. P. Kohli stated that positive social change could be brought about only by a movement based on values and spiritual principles, and the Brahma Kumaris were working for this.

Addressing thousands of dignitaries who have gathered to mark the anniversary, Kohli said many current social problems were the result of society turning away from spirituality towards a materialistic ethos.

Applauding the work of the Brahma Kumaris, Kavinder Gupta, Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, said that development needed to be holistic.
North Orissa University today conferred a degree of Doctor of Literature (honoris causa) on Dadi Hirdaya Mohini, Additional Chief of Brahma Kumaris. Prof. Prafulla Kumar Mishra, Vice Chancellor of the university, presented the degree.

In addition, several journalists were felicitated for their services to society. They included senior journalist Bhavya Srivastava, K. Jaya Prasad, Chairman and MD, Metro TV and Mega TV, Sreeraj Menon, Director, Sakhi TV, Thiruvananthapuram, Santosh Bhartiya, Editor-in-Chief, Chauthi Duniya, Ajay Dave, Group Editor, S Live Channel, P P Wangchuk, Editor-at-Large, Hindustan Times.

Several dignitaries from Nepal are attending the four-day event. Speaking on their behalf, Justice Mohan Bahadur Karki, Chief Justice, High Court, Nepal, said: “When there is no peace, life is meaningless, even if one has all the wealth in the world.” He added that the wandering of the human mind was a big problem of our times and one could learn the art of training it through Rajyoga meditation.

BK Amirchand, Vice-Chairperson, Brahma Kumaris’ Social Service Wing, said what was drawing more and more people to the organisation and its teachings was its core value of purity.

Congratulating Brahma Kumaris on putting on a grand show for the 80th anniversary, Kondal Rao, Chairman of Lamco Group of Industries, Hyderabad, said the organisation was now winning praise for its work everywhere.

P.P. Wangchuk, Editor-at-Large at Hindustan Times, New Delhi, said: “The atmosphere here is filled with peace and love… All of us will be returning home happier and more satisfied.”

Rajyogini BK Godavri, Sub-zone Incharge, Mulund, Mumbai, said that people often asked her to share with them her secret to happiness. “Learning spiritual knowledge changed my life,” she said.

Kalraj Mishra, Union Minister Addresses the Brahma Kumaris’ 80th Anniversary Celebrations

15 April 2017

“Science, spirituality must go hand in hand”

Mount Abu / Abu Road, March 27
Holistic progress can come about only when material and spiritual development go hand in hand, Kalraj Mishra, Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, said today while addressing dignitaries who had gathered here to mark the Brahma Kumaris’ 80th anniversary.

He said that with the powerful spiritual leadership of 101-year-old Dadi Janki, the organisation was capable of showing the right direction to the country and the world.
On the second day of the four-day celebrations, a host of prominent speakers lauded the Brahma Kumaris for setting an example of women’s empowerment and said that its message of peace was much needed in the world today.

More than 6,000 dignitaries from the country and abroad are attending the International Conference-cum-Cultural Festival at the Shantivan campus of the Brahma Kumaris. The event was formally inaugurated yesterday by Prime Minister Narendra Modi through tele-conferencing from the capital.

Lalit Kumar, an outstanding scientist of DRDO, said that though scientific advances had made technology more accessible, people were becoming addicted to gadgets, so moral education was essential in the current times.

He said while science was proven through logic, spirituality could only be felt by personal experience, and congratulated the Brahma Kumaris on running their management smoothly with the help of self-motivated volunteers.

Veteran journalist Rajiv Ranjan Nag said the fourth pillar of democracy was seeing a downfall in values as media groups were now becoming handmaids of business houses. He said Brahma Kumaris was the only organisation of its kind in the world run by women on such a large scale, and added that society needed the mantra of Om Shanti more than ever before because it was under extreme stress.

Mahadev Jankar, Minister for Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fishery Development in Maharashtra, said the knowledge given at the Brahma Kumaris could bring about great transformation, and suggested that the organisation look into the field of animal welfare.

Dr. M H Ghazali, Editor, United News Network, said that India was the only country that could become a world guru because it had always given the message of peace. He urged the BKs to take the initiative to make value education a part of school curricula and also conduct an awareness campaign in rural areas about the role of right nutrition in good health.

Prof. Radhamadhab Dash, Vice-Chancellor of Jagannath Sanskrit Vishvavidyalaya in Puri, Odisha, said the mantra of Om Shanti was meant to bring back peace into the world.

Earlier in the day, H.H. Swami Chidanand Swami Saraswati, president of Parmarath Niketan Ashram, said the Brahma Kumaris had shown how the world could be one family. “Chaos does not happen outside; it happens inside of us,” he said, asking everyone to participate in building a culture of trust.

BK Karuna, head of multimedia at the Brahma Kumaris, apprised everyone of the latest media collaborations of the organisation. He said Tata Sky had launched a channel to show the daily activities of Brahma Kumaris centres.

BK Marcelo Bulk, Director of the Brahma Kumaris centres in Colombia, said that in the fast-paced urban culture, where the only certainty was uncertainty, the loss of one’s real, spiritual identity was a big crisis. This is where India, with its rich tradition and spiritual heritage, was making a difference by bringing peace and meaning to life. Referring to the decades of war in Colombia, he said: “Peace is not something that you can get by signing a treaty, but through deep reflection.”

G.V.S.R. Anjaneyulu, MLA and chairman of Shivshakthi Group, Hyderabad, said that practising Rajyoga meditation as taught at the Brahma Kumaris had given him a great deal of internal satisfaction. He said knowledge of peace and happiness could not be received from top universities, but from spiritual organisations like the BK.

Asserting that spirituality had answers to current challenges, Dr. G. Vivekanand, Advisor, Telangana Government, proposed that the Brahma Kumaris work to spread their knowledge in the rural areas of his state.

Applauding the selfless service of the Brahma Kumaris, Acharya Dr. Lokesh Muni, social reformer and writer, said the organisation was working tirelessly for creating a new society.
Anuradha Prasad, Editor-in-Chief, News 24, congratulated the organisation for demonstrating the values of purity and simplicity. She urged the BKs to help in converting rajniti (politics) into rashtraniti (inclusive governance).

R.C. Raina, CEO, Navgraha TV, said that the Brahma Kumaris had taken woman power forward. He said that to bring about social transformation, the country’s education system, politics, and structure of family, religion and spirituality needed to be revamped.

Giving her inspirations, Dadi Ratan Mohini, Joint Chief of the Brahma Kumaris, said spirituality should be manifest in our speech and conduct. “I may consider myself good, but what do others feel from my words and behavior,” she said.

Ramesh Mittal, Chancellor, Medi-Caps University, Indore, said the Brahma Kumaris were upholding moral values which, he said, were vanishing fast from society. He requested the institution to seek the government’s help and start courses in educational institutions to impart moral education.

Anurag Batra, Chairman and Editor-in-Chief, Business World, said the Brahma Kumaris had done more for others than any other institution in the country. At a time when people were more interested in physical fitness, he said mental disorders were on the rise, and the teachings of the Brahma Kumaris helped build one’s mental muscle.

Sankar Laskar, Chief Editor of Asomiya Khabar, published from Guwahati, said that after having visited the Brahma Kumaris campus, he believed he would be able to change his perspective from a material to a spiritual one.

Kanak Sen Deka, Chief Editor of Dainik Agradoot, published from Guwahati, appreciated the work being done by the Brahma Kumaris and drew a parallel between their teachings and the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi and Srimanta Sankardev, the 15th Century saint and social reformer from Assam.

Atul Agarwal, Editor-in-Chief of Hindi Khabar, said he had received soul energy in the Brahma Kumaris campus and wondered how everyone here remained happy and every moment seemed to be festive.

Shivani Aggarwal, Channel Head of Pragya TV, said her life had been changed by her association with the Brahma Kumaris, and emphasised on the need to see events and news in a detached manner, without their affecting one’s life.

Bishabhar Newar, Chief Editor, Chhapte Chhapte, Kolkata, said that with science at its peak, we may know what is happening across the world but we are moving away from each other and do not know what is happening in our neighbourhood. Without spiritual power, science cannot solve our problems, he said.

The highlight of the morning session was a ‘royal’ felicitation of senior members who have played a pivotal role in the Brahma Kumaris’ services for several decades.

Prime Minister Modi Inaugurates the 80th Anniversary Celebrations of the Brahma Kumaris

15 April 2017

PM Modi urges Brahma Kumaris to aid in Govt. programmes

Abu Road, March 26: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi today urged the Brahma Kumaris to use their large network of centres and volunteers to aid the Government's efforts in the areas of renewable energy, nutrition and health, and for ushering in a cashless economy.

Inaugurating the 80th anniversary celebrations of the Brahma Kumaris at their campus in Abu Road, Rajasthan, by video conference from Delhi, the PM lauded the institution for working with unity and dedication over eight decades to spread the light of India's spiritual knowledge all over the world.

Addressing more than 6,000 prominent persons from India and abroad who have gathered for the four-day celebrations, the PM noted that the Brahma Kumaris have more than 8,500 meditation centres all over the world. This large network and Brahma Kumaris volunteers, he said, can be used to bring about  major change in the country by the year 2022, when India will be celebrating 75 years of independence, he said.

"Is it not our responsibility to do something to fulfil the dreams of the founders of this nation", he asked.

"Under the leadership of the Brahma Kumaris, we can bring about an energy revolution and a revolution in human lives", he added.

Noting the extensive use of solar power by the Brahma Kumaris, including a 1 MW solar thermal power plant set up by the institution, and its use of solar steam cooking systems to prepare up to 30,000 meals three times a day, he said India had set the target of producing 175 gigawatts of energy from non-fossil fuel sources by 2030.

In addition, 22 crore LED bulbs had been supplied by municipalities and other local bodies all over the country, resulting in savings of Rs 11,000 crore. He urged the Brahma Kumaris to spread awareness about LED bulbs all over the country to help reduce the country's dependence on fuel imports.

Referring to the demonetisation move  of the government, he also asked the Brahma Kumaris to ask their volunteers to use the Bhim app and help small traders in their locality do the same in order to speed the transition to a cashless economy.

Turning to health, the PM said women volunteers from the Brahma Kumaris can aid the government's immunisation programme to ensure a healthy future for the millions of children who otherwise fall victim to serious illnesses.

This, he said, was a part of empowering women, and added that India had recently become one of the few countries in the world to grant 26 weeks of maternity leave, up from 12 weeks previously. He also suggested that the institution launch an online certificate course on nutrition, about which there is little awareness in the country. All universities in the country could be made a part of this effort, he said. Students in classes 9th to 12th would particularly benefit from better nutrition, which would help them when they later start families or their careers, he noted.

Earlier in the day, senior BJP leader L K Advani led a host of luminaries in paying tribute to the work of the Brahma Kumaris. Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman P J Kurien and Bollywood star Raveena Tandon were among the other dignitaries who lauded the Brahma Kumaris for serving society and setting an example of women’s empowerment.
Members of Parliament, state legislators, senior judges, industrialists and media personalities are attending the celebrations.

Speaking during the reception session inside the cavernous Diamond Hall, Asia’s largest pillar-free hall, Advani said Brahma Kumaris was the only institution of its kind in the world that had been founded and expanded by women.

“Just as the mother plays the key role in a family, women have played the main role in the growth of the Brahma Kumaris”, he said.
Recalling how he had seen the institution grow since its early days in Karachi, before the partition of the subcontinent, Advani said the Brahma Kumaris were a source of moral guidance for the world and everyone could learn honesty and discipline from them.

Speaking of his association with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Advani said the RSS had helped mould his character, and he had learned discipline from the Sangh.

“I learned from the RSS never to be dishonest in my dealings with anyone. This may be a small thing, but it has helped me serve society,” the BJP leader said.

Praising the idealism of the Brahma Kumaris, he noted that behind it were the ideal qualities of the institution’s members. Pointing to Dadi Janki, the 101-year-old head of the Brahma Kumaris, he said her long and active life was no ordinary achievement; it was a divine gift received only by those who lead exemplary lives.

Besides Dadi Janki, Dadi Hirdaya Mohini, the additional head, and Dadi Ratan Mohini, the joint head of the Brahma Kumaris, were present on the occasion, as were Mr Devjibhai Patel, MP from Jalore, and Mr Amara Ram, Rajasthan Revenue Minister.

Dadi Janki was earlier extolled by Mr P J Kurien as an example of women’s empowerment. He said the progress of the country should be measured by Gross Domestic Happiness (GDH), not Gross Domestic Product, and the Brahma Kumaris were contributing to India’s GDH.
Brahma Kumaris epitomize India’s great culture and their message is a beacon of light in today’s world of extremism and terrorism, he said.

Noting the leading role played by women in the Brahma Kumaris, Eminent Indian Film Actress Raveena Tandon said it was an institution full of maternal love and care. “We sometimes worry about what kind of world our children will live in, but there are still organizations such as the Brahma Kumaris that are spreading love in the world, and this gives us hope”, she said.

A highlight of the proceedings was the felicitation of several prominent media figures for their services to society. They included Mr Gulab Kothari, Editor-in-Chief, Rajasthan Patrika; Mr Deepak Chaurasia, Editor-in-Chief, India News; Mr Sudhir Chaudhary, Editor-in-Chief, Zee Media Group; and Mr Sanjay Kulshreshtha, Editor-in-Chief, News Nation.

Mr K Vaidhyanathan, Chief Editor, Dinamani; Mr Reghu Ramachandran, Channel Head, Asianet; and Mr R Bhagwan Singh, Executive Editor, Deccan Chronicle, were also felicitated.
