Miami was in conversation with International Drummer Willie Stewart

Miami (USA): Energizing body & spirit through drumming & percussion with Willie Stewart. Media Producer- host Meredith Porte along with meditator Marianne Weiss who is also the Vice President of Non-profit in Miami was in conversation with the Miami award-winning international musician Willie Stewart. Celebrated drummer/percussionist/music director Willie Stewart performed with the internationally known band Third World for 23 years (remember the hit song Now that we found love., what are we gonna do with it?). During that time, this reggae band produced 13 albums of which five received Grammy nominations. Willie has recorded and performed with renowned artists such as Stevie Wonder, Carlos Santana, and Bob Marley. Willie is most proud of his and the band members’ strong humanitarian work. Their commitment to peace has resulted in receiving many awards, including the United Nations “Peace Medal”, two NAACP Image Awards nominations, and the Diamond Award of Washington DC.
After retiring from Third World, Willie has continued to be a force for good when he became the co-founder and Chairman of Embrace Music Foundation. He now uses his musical talents and experience to uplift and transforms the lives of teenagers and their families.

Crash Course for BKs in Digital Design and Social Media Marketing
Social media offers a vast service field for which BKs have yet to develop skilled instruments or a coherent service strategy. This is why the Global Integrated Media (GIM) forum of the Brahma Kumaris is offering a “Crash Course” for BKs in Digital Design and Social Media Marketing for North America and the Caribbean.
Today, more than half the world’s population (4.2 billion souls) use social media. In the USA as of January 2021, the number of social media users was equivalent to 72.3% of the total population (240 million). At the same time in Canada, the number of users was equivalent to 84.9% of the total population*.
Only very basic computer skills are required for this training (please see the flyer below). A similar course was conducted in May/June 2021 in Malaysia. As a result, 40 mothers are now regularly producing quality flyers and short promotional videos.
Most BKs already have Facebook and WhatsApp accounts. Many also use Instagram and Twitter. The training will help them maximize the serviceability of their existing accounts in promoting their local center. It will also guide them in producing quality content that avoids disservice pitfalls. In addition, it will guide centers in social media strategies relevant to their number of available hands.
Below is the training schedule which comprises 10 sessions over five weekends (4 hours per weekend). The context throughout will be Baba’s service -- not just social media for its own sake -- and there will be meditation in each session as well as reference to Baba’s gyan wherever possible.
Participants who attend 8 out of 10 of the sessions and complete 75% of the assignments will receive a 'Certificate of Basic Competency' which will be sent to their Center Coordinator. It will certify that the participant has sufficient skill to maintain his or her own individual Instagram page in support of the center, can design basic powerpoints, flyers, and promotional video clips (subject of course to the review of the main instrument), and can assist the instrument in the planning or coordinating of the center's social media strategy.
Participants who attend 8 out of 10 of the sessions but do not complete 75% of the assignments, will receive a 'Certificate of Attendance' which would qualify him or her to be part of a team planning or coordinating social media strategy at the local level. Their ability to design powerpoints, flyers, and videos for the center would be up to the discretion of the main instrument.
The trainer is Brother Nanda Kumar of Malaysia. In gyan for 31 years, Br Nanda has been a Social Media Marketing and Management Trainer since 2016 and a Web Developer and Programmer since 2015. Currently, he is Director of Synergy Training and Consultancy.

PUERTO RICO
A spiritual retreat for regular intermediate students.
2nd August: As part of the retreat we journeyed through the stages of cleaning the heart, filling the heart with Baba’s love, experiencing the soul seated in Baba’s heart, and from that space of absolutely pure, unconditional love, we celebrated a union of hearts…Raksha Bandhan with our beloved Baba.
29th August: Mini retreat in a neighboring park…the perfect place to experiment with the unlimited. During the retreat, we churned, experimented, and meditated on Baba’s murli of the day...the three types of love. A special meditation was also done to serve the elements.
MARGATE
Raksha Bandhan
This precious month of Raksha Bandhan was spent in lots of self-contemplation and introversion. Souls are still hesitant to meet in person and seem to have settled into a Zoom type of existence. Most souls joined via Zoom celebrations both locally and with the larger Avyakti Parivar Family. They collected Toli, Blessings, and Rakhi at their convenience.
Workshops held online at the Broward County Library were as follows:
Aug 7th - Being Happy and Spreading Happiness
Aug 14th - Overcoming Anger
Aug 21st - Observing and Accepting Change
Aug 28th - Healing through Meditation
Over 60 participants registered for each session with an attendance of an Average of 50 to 60 %
Wellness sessions
With the ongoing health challenges, a wellness group was formed to give guidance and support to both BKs and non-Bks.
The group is quite enthusiastic and has been meeting every Wednesday starting August and continuing. Great ideas and support emerge from the interaction of souls from over the US and Canada.

Special classes continue to help in the sustenance of new students who completed the Introductory classes on Zoom.

Avyakti Parivar program with Sister Mohini continues to sustain, strengthen and unite us in our efforts as one spiritual family.

Sisters Yolanda and Kristen
Sr Yolanda is in WA upstate and met with BK Kristin who we all remember from many years back. They did a few guided meditations together!
Zoom Classes
Naples continues to give Zoom classes and extending them to the snowbirds from Canada! Sr Yolanda shared on sacred wisdom and shifting my inner world of fear. Sr Susan from Peace Village gave a talk on dive deeper than where my eyes can see. Kristina facilitated an interactive session on connecting to our greatness and healing at the source of our pain.

Rakhi was celebrated on 22nd August with a special class from Sister Shireen from Tampa along with other BK Guests

Miami (USA): Media Producer- host Meredith Porte was in conversation with Professor Nathan Katz at Florida International University August 27. This conversation is part of the ‘Friday with Friends – spiritual conversations’ series hosted by the BK Miami Meditation Center.
Distinguished religions professor, Emeritus Nathan Katz’s great love for India dates back to his childhood. He has traveled and conducted religious research there numerous times, seeing India as his second home! He is an internationally- recognized authority on Indian Jewry. Katz served as Distinguished Professor in the Florida International University School of International and Public Affairs, the Bhagwan Mahavir Professor of Jain Studies, and the academic director of the Jewish Museum of Florida-FIU. Dr. Katz has known the Dalai Lama for many years, bringing him to speak in Miami three times. He is best known for his work in Indo-Judaic Studies and his numerous award-winning books on Indian Jewish communities reveal the bond between Judaism and Hinduism.

We have had 'historic' rainfall after the 5th largest hurricane to come to the United States.
The television news has shown much flooding, tornadoes and devastation in the New York, New Jersey and Louisiana states.
We can report that the BK family is well;, has power and essentials. Our Queens, New York center and Edison, New Jersey centers did experience basement flooding during the intense rain and rising waters.
City streets were rivers, subway stairs were waterfalls and the roadways are still not easily passable due to abandoned cars and assorted 'flotsam and jetsam'.

Erik has been involved in the Brahma Kumaris for over 35 years and is a Director of the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual Organization (USA). He has been involved in the interfaith community since participating in various organizing committees for the 1993 Parliament of the World’s Religions in Chicago. Building bridges between faiths and find common ground for constructive whole community action has been a guiding principle for Erik. Also, is a founding member of the Board of Directors of the Long Island Multifaith Forum.

"How to stay protected from negativity" - Sunday, August 29, 4-5:30 pm:
A group of 15 souls attended the session organized at St. Louis Meditation Center/Office Space. The class was followed by meditation and Indian dinner.
4th Anniversary of St. Louis BK Center - Saturday, August 28:
St. Louis center celebrated its fourth year anniversary with a small group of BK students at Baba's bhawan. The event had Murli class, meditation, group discussion, Bhog offering, cake cutting and Brahma Bhojan. BK students arrived from Missouri, Tennessee and Kansas.
Hindu Ganesha Temple, Nashville - Saturday, August 7, 1:00 -2:00 pm:
A social distanced public program was organized by the Hindu Ganesha Temple, Nashville. Sister Priya was invited to deliver a talk on the topic "Harmony in Relationships." About 25 people attended the event. After the program, there was a sustenance program for Tennessee BK students.

Brahma Kumaris invited to Hare Krishna Festival in Gainesville, Florida

Tampa, Florida (USA): BK Shireen, Co-ordinator of Brahma Kumaris Center in Tampa was invited to share about Authentic Spiritual Leadership at the Hare Krishna festival in Gainesville. Via zoom, she interacted with several senior sanyasis of the Gaudya Vaishnava order. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive.

Spiritual Insights sessions that serve to contribute to personal development and individual growth were held every night through July. Thursday, July 29 – Sister Shireen was invited to share about Authentic Spiritual Leadership at the Hare Krishna festival in Gainesville. Via zoom, she interacted with several senior sanyasis of the Gaudya Vaishnava order. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive.
