Meditation for World Peace ONLINE - Sunday 17 May, 11:00 am - 12:00 noon

14 May 2020

This Sunday 17 May, from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm, we will gather from the comfort and safety of our own homes for our monthly 3rd Sunday Meditation for World Peace program. Find Zoom meeting link below.

The theme will be The Power of the Compassionate Heart. And we are delighted that Rev Dr Kim Cunio will join us to share his thoughts on the topic, followed by a meditation experience guided by Charlie Hogg.

Compassion generates love, kindness and support without boundaries. Compassionate love is true spiritual love involving care and consideration for everyone. It is free of selfish motives or aims and is that feeling of respect, reverence and regard for all. It is a pure intention of compassion to our individual family, community and also entire humanity.

We will start promptly at 11:00 am Sydney time. Can you please click onto and “enter" the meeting at least 5 minutes earlier to be sure that we can make best use of the time. Your microphones will be muted during the talk and meditation - but there will be an opportunity at the end to see & hear from you, and enjoy a sense of community.

Brahma Kumaris Volunteer to Provide Food Packs and Face Shields in Philippines

2 May 2020

Manila ( Philippines ): The Brahma Kumaris Davao Center prepared face shields in collaboration with other interfaith groups such as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Focolare, and the Hindu Temple.

One of the meditation practitioners is a doctor in Sta Ana Hospital meant for Covid-19 patients, and aid was given on a personal, voluntary basis, to give help in-kind, such as food packs with printed inspirational thoughts (Blessing cards) on Thursdays. Others items — such as face shields, packs of bottled water, medicinal alcohol, a big package of PPEs (personal protective equipment) and disinfectant bottles — from BK friends and contacts were given to the hospital.

Activities by Brahma Kumaris Philippines during the Quarantine time:

♠ Public Program: Meditation “Para Sa Bayan” (Meditation for the Country)

LIVE Daily Meditation, Para Sa Bayan at 4 pm daily is open to the public, which can be found in the Face Book pages of the Brahma Kumaris Quezon City and Brahma Kumaris Makati City. There are also memes on positivity, peace and the like posted at Pause Muna, and Peace Muna Facebook.

♠ National Akhand Bhatti (Intense Meditation)

Starting March 17, when the major cities of the country went into an enhanced community quarantine, the BK Philippines family participated in a national akhand bhatti (continual deep meditation) from 8 am to 8 pm.  That is, every BK, voluntarily chose how many hour/s and at what time they can participate. The focus was on one daily point of consciousness following the theme of “A Powerful Yogi in Tapasya.” Everyone felt that, while doing this special service through the mind (mansa seva) to uplift the atmosphere during this pandemic time, there was also a lift in one’s personal effort.

Starting April 12, BKs in the Philippines joined the global BK family in a synchronized collective yoga of 15 minutes.

A Future Without Fear

Friday 24th April, 10am

Sooner or later, this Lock-down will finish and we will return to our carefree lives once again. However, will it be the same, or will something have changed deep inside each of us?

Can we imagine a future without fear?

Charlie Hogg is National Coordinator of Brahma Kumaris in Australia and an active member of the Brahma Kumaris international coordinating group. Charlie feels we need a new wisdom for contemporary life. Our intellectual abilities help us handle the external world but often fall short when it comes to navigating the internal world, a world often dominated by an over active mind, anxiety, feelings of self-doubt or a sense of superiority. This is where Charlie feels spirituality has a role to play.

Meditation for World Peace this Easter Sunday - join us virtually via ZOOM

11 April 2020

Hello dear friends,

We need to take advantage of this challenging time to “meet” through minds & hearts with ever-greater confidence, especially while we cannot easily meet in person.

This Sunday 12 April, along with Interfaith in Sydney, we will gather from the safety of our own homes - to meditate together, celebrate Easter and so much else...virtually via Zoom.

Yes, this is the second and not third Sunday of the month (when we normally have our monthly Meditation for World Peace gathering) - but let’s celebrate what’s possible.

The instructions to connect via Zoom are below:

For those of you who are new to Zoom, it is pretty straightforward. You should need only to click on the meeting link. If you are asked for the meeting ID, it’s below. As is the password (which you may also be asked for).

We will start promptly at 11:00 am Sydney time. Please join the Zoom meeting at least 5 minutes earlier to be sure that we can make best use of the time.

Our gathering will probably be about 45 minutes, with the option of some discussion towards or just after the close - or even questions.

Participants will be placed on mute during the time of reflection, music and talk - and we will unmute you at the end for questions/discussion.

One of the benefits of Zoom is that we can all see one another’s faces - how beautiful is that!

It is also making it easy for any of you who even in better times can’t get to Five Dock, to join in and rejoice with us all. We can truly “gather”!

Calm Inspirations: 3-5 minute Short Reflections and Meditations by meditators from across the community

8 March 2020

Dear friends,  Many peaceful and warm greetings. These are interesting times to say the least, but we do hope that you are keeping well as we all adjust, accommodate and evolve to meet new circumstances.

This is a short note to say that we are putting morning meditations on hold at Federation Square for obvious reasons - and will keep you updated accordingly as the situation unfolds.

Introductory Video: https://youtu.be/pX3OvSLzuq4 [6:32] A short film introducing Calm in the City: A Brahma Kumaris Australia Initiative to bring calm into the busy lives of city communities.

However, we still would like to provide a regular means of support.

We are proposing a new series of 3-5 minute reflections, meditations and inspirations called Calm Inspirations which can be received by you through WhatsApp.

We will be inviting meditators from across communities (faith and non-faith) to share short reflections and meditations relevant to this time - and designed to be listened to first thing in the morning to create a calm, healthy, strong and positive inner environment - before we meet the day.

To receive these inspirations, please follow these 2 steps:

1) Text the Calm in the City number: +61 406 371 894 with the message "Calm Inspirations".

2) Add this Calm in the City number to your contacts.

The series will start on Sunday 22nd March, and the first recording will be sent out as a Broadcast WhatsApp message (which means that no-one else will see your number and neither can you see anyone else's).

We hope that, even though we may not be able to connect physically, that these 'real time' meditations and reflections connect us all 'subtlely' bringing us closer in feelings of calm, kindness and courage, as we hold the space for ourselves and others - together.

With thoughts of peace and love,
The Calm in the City Team
https://www.calminthecity.org.au/

PS. If you don't have WhatsApp - we can post on Twitter as well www.twitter.com/calminthecity - please let us know if you would like this by texting the above number from your mobile phone "Twitter".

The Introduction of Spiritual Knowledge to Young Surgeon Doctors in Bali, Denpasar, Indonesia

13 February 2020

On 31 January, about 25 young surgeons received knowledge about how important mind control is, and how to be focused and stable in carrying out their duties and profession as doctors. They learned that, setting aside a few minutes of silence each day is very helpful mentally to get detoxed from all the negativity and pressure of everyday life. The docters all enjoyed listening to spiritual knowledge and found it to be useful for their everyday routine.

The event was held at the Himalaya Gita Patsala organized by BK brother Dr. Putu Yasa and sister Darmawati.

Sister Janaki Initiates Service in Balikpapan on Kalimantan, the Largest Island of Indonesia

10 February 2020

Kalimantan is the largest island in Indonesia.

The total population of Kalimantan Island is around 16.23 million.

Until now there has been no Baba’s service on the island.

Sister Janaki with one sister from Denpasar, went to East Kalimantan, Balikpapan to give Baba’s knowledge from February 5-8. The program was held in a 5 star hotel.

The participants were very enthusiastic and happy to receive Baba's knowledge.

There were about 35 souls who benefited from the event.

Sister Janaki said that more service can be done if the local people are willing to continue giving support. On the whole everyone who attended the 3 day program took a lot of benefit, and agreed to have further similar programs.

Indeed, it was a memorable and meaningful day for both the 170 ARC niwasis and the karma yogis who participated in the program. They thoroughly enjoyed themselves, inspired and were awed by the grand ceremony accorded to them and served with a ten-course Lunch.

To them, it was really a special treat for the occasion as the ARC niwasis took the opportunity to cook for the karma yogis with much heartfelt thanksgiving and appreciation for their tireless service rendered from time to time during the several ARC programs to run smoothly and successfully throughout the year.

News from the Philippines re Volcanic Eruptions

20 January 2020

Dear Centre Coordinators and Global family, Greetings of love from the Philippines,

You may have seen the news about the Taal volcano eruption in Tagaytay which took place on Sunday, 12 January. According to the news, there could be a big eruption any time from 3 days to 7 months.

There has been ash falling in Tagaytay City where Baba has a Retreat Centre, and therefore the centre residents have moved to places nearby where it is safer.

All of Baba’s homes are ok, and so far there is no damage, although the falling ash affects the lungs, and can affect the breathing.

We are all doing extra yoga, so please continue to send your sakaash.

With much love,

In Baba’s yaad,

Philippine Family

Report on Didi Ambika & SpARC Team's Visit to Malaysia 12 to 16 December 2019

12 January 2020

Malaysia had the fortune of having the following three senior SpARC Team members’ visit led by Didi Ambika, the Regional Coordinator of Bangalore, India.

1. Didi Ambika - Chairperson, SpARC Wing of Brahma Kumaris

2. Dr. Sushil Chandra – Scientist, Management Member of SpARC Wing 3. BK

Shrikant – National Coordinator SpARC Wing, Mt Abu

The three-member mission had come on the invitation of the Indian High Commissioner in Malaysia to conduct a one-day Training Course on the “Scientific Approach to Spirituality”. This was the outcome of Didi Ambika’s recent visit to Malaysia for the Raksha Bandhan Program in August 2019.

During their mission a couple of programs for BKs and non- BKs took place as detailed below:

12 Dec 2019, Thursday afternoon - Ministry of Health, Traditional & Complementary Medicine Division

Immediately upon arrival, the team had a meeting with the Ministry of Health, Traditional & Complementary Medicine Division Head, Dr Jaspal Kaur, and her team of four officials. The aim was to share the science of Raja Yoga Meditation and its positive effects on human health and well- being as a tool in self-healing and in combating diseases. At the moment, the Ministry of Health Malaysia has yet to recognize or regulate Raja Yoga Meditation as an alternative medicine and, hence, would not be able to support, endorse or participate in any of the collaboration proposals. It is hoped that the meeting would open up the opportunity for the Malaysian government to regard Raja Yoga Meditation as a powerful tool in addressing human health and positive behavioral changes. Scientific research papers were shared and the Division would study the documents to assess the extent Raja Yoga Meditation can be classified as alternative medicine under non medicine realm or other medical and health science division.

Indeed, it was an eye opener to the Ministry’s team of officials and they were intrigued with the knowledge and the positive research results of the Raja Yoga Meditation and our genuineness in benefitting humanity......click here for detailed report with photos.

Press release January 2020 RE: Sydney Main Center & Blue Mountains Retreat Center Holding Special Meditation Programs for the Bushfire Season

12 January 2020

Dear friends,

Please know we are thinking of you all through this difficult bushfire season.

Charlie Hogg our CEO in Australia has asked me to share the Brahma Kumaris best wishes with everyone and to let you know of a special program at our headquarters in Sydney on Sunday 12 January. Another event is in the Blue Mountains on Sunday 19 January. The links with booking details are below.

With good wishes

Phillippa.

The Brahma Kumaris extend our deepest sympathies and compassion to all in Australia affected by the recent fires.

Throughout this disaster, there have been outpourings of support and goodwill for Australia from around the world generally, and we have also received many messages within the global Brahma Kumaris network.

As meditators we know the impact of intention. When many of us focus together, the collective power and vibrations have a greater effect. In support for those suffering from the bushfires, including animals and nature,  many people have gathered at Brahma Kumaris centres in Australia and all over the world to do special meditation and spread vibrations of peace, love, care, and support.

One such event is in Sydney this Sunday 12 Jan. https://tinyurl.com/wamhubk

Another event is in the Blue Mountains on Sunday 19 January. https://tinyurl.com/yhgcvfog

Two of our residential retreat centres, in the Blue Mountains and Wilton to the southwest of Sydney, evacuated for extended periods of time. Several retreats were also cancelled as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of residents and retreat participants.

We also appreciate and would like to acknowledge how heartening it has been to see that many positive stories of hope, generosity and human goodness have been emerging. This is very valuable in the midst of situations which we all find challenging. The road to recovery will also be long and we hope this resilience will continue.

With love and best wishes

Phillippa and the Wilton Team

Update on bushfires in Australia

6 January 2020

Dear Centre Co-ordinators and Baba's Worldwide Family, Greetings of love from the family of Australia.

Thank you for the flood (word especially selected!) of loving emails, calls and whatsapp messages full of good wishes from all corners of the world for the fires in Australia.

We have been feeling you showering cooling vibrations on this part of the world, especially seeing the TV footage of the destructive power of these fires. They have been going for months and an estimate is they have already burned 12 million acres of bush land. It is reminding us all of Baba's words that we are living in the final times of this cycle.

All Baba's children and property are safe and well. The family of the Blue Mountains left the retreat centre for 10 days but they have now returned and all is well. The fires came within 500 metres of Baba's retreat centre. The Wilton family have evacuated four times for short periods of time but are also okay.

Baba's children here have been having yoga bhattis. All are in a very light stage observing these scenes of drama of last kalpa.

Thank you again for all your love and good wishes which are deeply appreciated.

With love,

From Charlie and the Australian family
