Sanjeevani Retreats at InnerSpace Cambridge - Recordings Available

19 November 2020

No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it.  Albert Einstein

A week-long, immersive, online 'Sanjeevani Retreat' was held from 2nd to 8th November.

You can access the main content sessions here: https://tinyurl.com/sanjeevani-nov-2020-recordings

Ordinarily, we don't even know our highest potential, our higher consciousness is shut down. The Sanjeevani retreats attempt to aid us in grasping this higher consciousness and therefore revealing our highest potential. That is precisely the purpose of spirituality. Spirituality and higher consciousness are not the treasure of just a few but are something that should help us all in our everyday lives.

The retreats are conducted in very clear and simple terms, with an emphasis on experience.

The next one is scheduled for Monday 4th January - Sunday 10th January 2021 from 2.00 pm - 4.00 pm (UK times). Click here to register.

REPLAY - Inner Simplicity Amidst Outer Complexity - Talk & Discussion with Shailen Popat on 14th November

19 November 2020

Society is a complex place that requires skillful engagement in order to navigate it successfully.  Through this engagement, the complexity is internalised.  In this talk, hosted by Rosemary of Inner Space, Oxford, Shailen focuses on the concepts of 'Radical Uncertainty', 'Wicked Issues', and 'Unpreparedness' to illustrate external complexity. He presents BK Raj Yoga meditation as a method to develop internal simplicity.

Shailen works as a teacher of public policy and management at the University of Birmingham and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.  He is also a DPhil Researcher in schools policy enactment at the University of Oxford, a Senior Hulme Scholar at Brasenose College, and is a Board Member of the Management in Education journal published by SAGE.   Previously, he worked as a children's services manager. His faith background is BK Raj Yoga.

The talk is preceded by reflective thoughts shared by Natalie Anderson.

News from Jayantiben (London): 17 November

19 November 2020

Baba’s house has been open again since Monday, 16th, for individual meditation, and so we’ve had lots of people come at different times through the day to be in Baba’s Room, and also to pick up their Diwali Toli Boxes. Over 400 Boxes have now been distributed, which would be around the number of regular students that come to Baba’s house.

Activities continue on Zoom. There were two other brief appearances on television, one on Monday with a family and Sister Rewa being asked about their use of devices during lockdown, and whether the use of devices has increased. Of course Sister Rewa said yes, she is teaching Meditation and holding classes on Zoom more than in the past. It was all about the energy consumption of the devices, but it was an interesting opportunity for Sister Rewa to be present, but also give drishti and share a few thoughts.

On the 17th, ITV News again had the PR person from Swami Narayan and Sister Urvashi from Brahma Kumaris, London, to speak in Trafalgar Square about how things will develop in the future for Diwali in London. Again, it was just a very quick and short interview, but this was also at peak time 6 pm. So white saris have been appearing on TV thrice this week! Time seems to be moving very fast.

News from Jayantiben in London: 16 November

19 November 2020

Diwali Weekend is over, and we observed all the rules so there was no coming in and out of Global House, apart from the Residents there for various duties. Webcasts continued with Morning Class and Bhog Offering on Diwali Day (Sat, 14 November), and also New Year Day (Sun, 15 November).

There were two major events on Zoom over the weekend. On Saturday, there was an Interfaith Event called ‘Essential Divinity’, and we had very good people participate: The Dean of Manchester, our dear friend Marcus Braybrooke, and the Iman who serves at Eaton College, and then myself. Each one spoke very beautifully about the divinity within, and shared very inspirational stories. I don’t have stories from the scriptures to share, having not studied any of them this birth round at the end of the Kalpa, but there are so many stories to share about the Dadis and so it becomes practical experience.

On Sunday, we had over 6000 people that we know of - we’ll probably know about more later – for an event called, ‘Seeing the Light through the Dark: Exploring the Light of Generosity, Prosperity and Spirit (GPS).’ It was a very innovative programme created by the Team at GCH. We had the three themes being discussed between myself and Brother Kiran Mani (Managing Director at Google) who has been a Meditator for 11 years, and has a lot of life experience filled with compassion.

The programme was interspersed with experiences from BKs from Spain, Italy, and India, and we had translations taking place simultaneously in 7 languages, so it was a challenge for the technical team but they managed really well, and everything was seamless. We’ve had a huge number of messages afterwards appreciating the inspiration of a really, truly spiritual Diwali message.

We also had an interesting bonus: on Friday night, there was an interview on ITV News for the London Region, which was aired at 6.10pm, peak viewing time. The theme was ‘how are you celebrating Diwali during lockdown?’ It’s ironic that when Diwali celebrations actually happen, I don’t think ITV News has ever covered it, even though we get around 30,000 people at the main Trafalgar Square! But this time because it wasn’t happening live at the Square, Media picked up on it and talked to the Brahma Kumaris, Swami Narayan and others about how they would celebrate Diwali this year. Dadi Janki was on BBC World News during her 90th birthday celebrations; prior to that the Solar Cooking System in Madhuban was featured on BBC World News, and this was now the latest interview on prime television in the UK. It happened in a very simple way without any effort on our part: the Brahma Kumaris have been on the Diwali in London Committee for many years, and this year we were the Chair, and so the ITV people saw the Remembering Diwali at Trafalgar Square broadcast the weekend before, where at the opening there was a message from the BKs, and that led to them calling us. Baba has said service will become easier and this really was that; they called us and we hadn’t called them. So things are slowly moving forward.

On the 16th, we had many BKs come for Meditation in Baba’s Room and the Seminar Room, but also to pick up their Toli Boxes. These Boxes have been appreciated hugely by everyone who has either picked them up or have had it delivered. A few people were sent boxes, because we knew they wouldn’t be able to come themselves, but there has been deep appreciation of all the sustenance they get from Baba’s home.

News from Jayantiben in London: 13 November

15 November 2020

Since it’s Diwali weekend, Brent Council asked all the places of worship that would normally celebrate Diwali (which is those of Hindu, Sikh and Jain background) to actually close their doors for the weekend, since COVID has had a huge impact on the community in Brent, and they are concerned about large gatherings. So for two days we will not even have individuals come for Meditation, and the doors will be shut totally. But on the 13th, many BKs came to pick up their Diwali boxes filled with sweet & savoury tolis and fruit. And again, I am sure many will come on Monday and Tuesday.

Baba’s Murli on the 13th was very apt in that our true Diwali is staying on the pilgrimage of remembrance, and sharing the light with many other souls, so we continue with that sweet reminder.

Diwali greetings from Sis Denise from Germany

Om Shanti, The festival of Divali is the memorial of a time when the whole world was enlightened, healthy, wealthy, having good relationships with all. It comes after a severe time of darkness when the forces of evil were fought and overcome when great good fortune was made through pure karma and death was vanquished.

Special 'Yoga Break'- Collective meditation during two timings 9.00 am and 7.00 pm GMT for one month (5th Nov - 2nd Dec)

11 November 2020

Dear Divine Family, Loving greetings.

We would like to invite you to join in daily collective yoga for our region.

Inspired by the powerful sustenance received from the United Yoga Bhatthi - with worldwide collective meditation from April to August - we wish to do something similar for our region as we go through this second wave of Covid 19.  We can all contribute with powerful vibrations, not just to the UK, Europe, and the Middle East, but to the world.  While some countries are speaking of a 'circuit break' so we are initiating a 'Yoga break'.

In the UK the 'circuit break' to halt the spread of the virus is one month of partial lockdown from 5th November to 2nd December.  We will have daily collective yoga during this time.  You are warmly invited to join us at the following times:

9.00 am - 1.00 pm

5.00 pm – 7.00 pm

This is being webcast from GCH. Please tune in in the usual way. The webcast is on during the day as per the above UK timings (GMT) and with the below slide of our ancestors, it would be most powerful if we could all link in simultaneously wherever we are.

Please pass this message on to other BK students.

With much love
In Baba's yaad,
B.K. Jayanti

News from Jayantiben in London: 8 November

9 November 2020

There have been several Diwali programmes organised by different communities, and so Sudeshben and myself have been doing lots of Diwali Messages.

There was a programme this past weekend for ‘Women’s Leadership’ organised by Sister Carolin in Berlin. Of course with the COVID situation it wasn’t possible to travel, but 10 powerful women gathered together in Berlin, and a couple of us were online: one from Sweden and myself. The programme started on Saturday afternoon in a Buddhist Monastery, where they had enough space for the group, and continued through till Sunday afternoon. It was a very lovely event with one brother who was a participant, but he too had a lot of empathy for women’s situations, and also enjoyed the spirituality. Essentially, all the women were very open to spiritual ideas, and I think everyone took a lot of benefit.

A person who supported Carolin in the panning of all this was a Professor from the Max Planck Institute, a Neuro-Scientist herself, who was very, very interested in Spirituality and Meditation.

News from Jayantiben in London: 5 November

6 November 2020

Thursday was the first day in the new mode of the month-long lockdown. On the one side, Central London is totally deserted, but on the other side where people have to travel around Central London, traffic is horrendous in the suburbs because no one wants to use public transport of course. It’s good that Baba had warned us ahead of time of everything that is to happen, and so we continue to watch the drama, keeping Baba’s canopy of protection.

'A little bit of heaven’ – Update on Autumn in the grounds at the Global Retreat Centre

6 November 2020

Greetings from London,

Please see below an update on the Global Retreat Centre.

We have sent it to the centres in the European and Middle East region. You may like to send it to your region if you feel it is appropriate.

With love and thanks,

in Baba's yaad,

BK Jayanti

I’m sure that the Global Retreat Centre is in the minds of many of you, as the third anniversary of the beginning of the refurbishment works approaches. Yes, three years in March since the resident’s moved out and two years since the stripping out finished and the builders moved in. What amazing drama that some of that period in which the refurbishment is happening should coincide with the pandemic, a time when no one could be visiting anyway.

Just as a reminder to you of times spent at GRC, here is a short video of ‘a little bit of heaven’ – autumn in the grounds at the Centre. Capability Brown, the famous English landscaper who had a hand in designing the grounds, was known to have ‘sought an image of heaven’, in all the creativity he was involved in.

Updates on the refurbishment coming soon!

With love from the GRC team

News from Jayantiben in London: 2 November

3 November 2020

On 1 November, we had the online programme for Diwali in the Square that went on from 3-7 pm. A whole team from 14 Organisations, including BKs, had put together the Event from past events since it was not possible to do any programme in Trafalgar Square this year. Everyone appreciated it a lot, and at some point they had 22,000 viewers on several platforms.

Sister Jaymini was Chair of the Event this year, with Sister Urvashi as Co-Chair; Dipti and Toots also worked very hard to make all this happen. There was a very nice slot for Dadi Janki’s Message too, taken from past messages she has given for Diwali.

London is now in a new lockdown for a month. Individuals will be able to still come to Baba’s House, but at the moment it won’t be possible for souls to come for collective Classes, so we watch the drama as it further unfolds.

News from Jayantiben in London: 26 October

3 November 2020

A very important Seminar took place for a few days with Professor David Cadman on the subject, ‘The Narrative of Love.’ Being part of that meant giving three and a half hours each day but it was really worthwhile, and there was a good opportunity to have input in the discussion also. It was based on the ‘Narratives of Love’ within the Abrahamic traditions, but they also then included the Buddhist, Rajyoga and Sikh perspectives to represent the Eastern belief systems.

On 31 October, there was an announcement that there is to be Lockdown, and places of worship cannot have gatherings of any size at all, but people can come for individual Prayer/Meditation.
