REMINDER: International BK Children's Retreat 2019

7 December 2019

Greetings of Love and Remembrance.

REMINDER NOTICE

Theme of International BK Children's Retreat 2019 is –

'THE ROYAL SWANS'

26th to 30th Dec 2019, GYAN SAROVAR

(Age group 6 - 12)

As Baba, the Supreme Teacher is teaching us to become pure once again, by removing our weaknesses and filling our intellects with the jewels of knowledge, the team of ICR has chosen a very beautiful theme of this year 2019 - 'THE ROYAL SWANS'

We warmly welcome the children from across the world to this 5 days retreat. In this beautiful retreat, children will enjoy the experience of their golden sanskars of ROYALTY, REALITY and DIVINITY. Baba calls the children as Mahatmas, ie the souls who are great because their minds are free of vices. This uniqueness is similar to that of SWANS, that notice only goodness and are hence sign of holiness, purity and royalty. We, the children of Baba in older bodies have to un-do the practice of picking negativity, but children of Baba in younger bodies have a natural tendency to notice the beauty of everything. This year, we intend to celebrate and create sanskars to sustain this natural trait of the children.

All the BK children of age group 6-12 who are willing to participate in the International BK Children's Retreat this year are most welcome. Kindly register before 15th of December 2019 by filling the attached form. Please send the filled form to Sr Meera <meera.nagananda@my.brahmakumari.org> together with a copy to your NC. More information about the Retreat is attached.

Note:

·  There will be a special cultural evening on 30th December for the children. Those who want to present any cultural items, please bring your own costume along with you.
·  Children’s parent/ guardian should accompany their child with an FM radio for BaapDada’s meeting.

For any further information please contact Sr Meera: <meera.nagananda@my.brahmakumari.org>

And so, with great love, we await your unique and precious presence to bring this sacred circle of friendship to life.

The retreat is only a few months away.  If you are planning to attend, we would really appreciate your earliest reply to this email: gyan@brahmakumaris.org.

Invitation to March 2020 Teacher Training for the Foundation Course in ORC Delhi

18 November 2019

March 2020 Nine‐day Teachers Training for the

Foundation Course in Raja Yoga Meditation

Om Shanti Retreat Centre (ORC), Delhi

Arrivals Monday, 9th March / Departures after breakfast, Thursday, 19th March

Dear Centre Coordinators,

Om Shanti. Following a very successful training for 75 participants in Peace Village in September 2019, we are delighted to announce another Raja Yoga Teacher Training to be held at ORC in March 2020.

BKs already teaching the Foundation Raja Yoga Course, as well as those who would like to teach or those who are keen to review the course in depth, are welcome to attend. Participants should be in gyan at least three years and attend the Centre regularly. (Exceptions to this must be confirmed with the trainers.) Whether they would like to start teaching but need confidence and lesson plans, or are already teaching and would like to update their skills and get feedback on their effectiveness, they will find this immersion in gyan and yoga invaluable. Prior training attendees will be permitted to attend as support staff (see below).

The training covers the beginning, intermediate and advanced levels of the Raja Yoga course as well as sessions on meditation and on experiential facilitation and learning skills. It also includes a number of practicums – sessions in which participants develop their presentation skills by practice-teaching a segment of a lesson and are given constructive feedback by their peers. The schedule provides for a comfortably paced training that allows free time in the afternoon and occasional evening classes by seniors Coincidentally, this training will be running alongside a silence retreat for senior teachers from India. All training participants, therefore, will be requested to observe silence in the corridors of the training complex and outside the dining room. No doubt trainees will want to cooperate fully in this, as it will also guarantee a very powerful atmosphere for the training.

Those interested in attending will need to plan their arrival and departure timings so as to not miss any of the sessions. The first session of the training is a Welcome session on Monday 9th March evening and the last session will be on Wednesday 18th March evening. Because the Welcome program is on the evening of 9th March and the first full day of training begins after breakfast on the 10th, we ask that participants plan travel to ORC from Madhuban on the 8th March, especially if traveling by train.

It is important and expected that participants attend all sessions. Those who cannot attend for the full nine days will not be permitted to attend.

Very important: All participants must register and secure their place in the training before booking their travel, as there are limited places available (booking your travel first will not guarantee you a place in the training). Once you have registered, you will receive a confirmation email.  Please book your travel only after receiving the confirmation email. Once your travel is booked, provide the information to your Centre Coordinator for uploading to the Double Foreigner Travel Database.

Sr Kiran (US), Sr Margaret Barron (UK), Sr Rona Schweitz (US), and Sr Mary-Jeanne Tremblay (Canada) will conduct the training. They have been running this training since 2014. Sr Kiran will deliver the content sessions, Sr Margaret will offer sessions on experiential learning methods, Sr Rona will lead the meditation sessions and Sr Mary-Jeanne will coordinate the practicums. Sr Kiran, who has been in gyan since 1979, has conducted other such trainings at Peace Village and Anubhuti Retreat Centres, in various US and Canadian cities and in Guyana. Sr Margaret has been in gyan since 1992 and is involved with the Raja Yoga Education Department, UK and co-facilitates experiential trainings for new and established teachers in London and around the UK. She has also facilitated trainings for BK teachers in Europe, US, and South India, designed to make the delivery of the Raja Yoga Course more interactive, creative, and supportive of all types of learners. Sr Rona, in gyan since 1990, will provide sessions on meditation, a meditation experience at the beginning of each day, and will guide the 7 to 7:30 pm evening meditations. She has also authored the book “Experience Meditation” and accompanying CD, BKIS 2017 (a new edition of her original “Experiential Approach to Mastering Meditation”). Sister Mary-Jeanne has been in gyan since 1995 and has been assisting with the Teacher Trainings since 2013.

A USB flash drive containing over 600 pages of Teacher Resources will be available to all participants for a nominal charge. Video and audio recordings of the sessions may also be available for purchase.

Please note that attending this training does not automatically qualify participants to teach. The Centre Coordinator will decide this in conjunction with the participant. This will be emphasized during the training. Note: the registration form will ask participants whether they follow the principles of pure diet, purity in relationships, regular amrit vela, and Murli class. All information will be kept confidential.

A note about language: The training will be in English. If participants need translation into other languages, their center / language group must provide at least two translators. There will be no translation into Hindi.

Suggested contribution for the training: For participants from developing countries, seniors suggest Rs 11,000 to 14,000 (USD $155-200) as a sensible contribution to ORC for the nine-day training. For participants from the US, Europe or Australia, they suggest Rs 23,000 ($325 US or $425 AUD or €270 Euros). This does not include the transport fee that will be collected by ORC (Rs. 1500-2000) from each participant or the USB flash drive (Rs.500), but does cover all other costs (i.e., food and all other facilities for the training). If participants want the audio and video recordings of the sessions, another flash drive can be provided at an additional charge.

In addition, some experienced teachers are needed to help facilitate the practicum sessions, so if you are already teaching but are interested in the training and willing to play this role, kindly let us know by indicating this in the appropriate place on the registration form. You would need to arrive BY NOON on the 9th March - without exception - to participate in a facilitator's briefing session later that afternoon. Interested facilitators are kindly requested to provide Sisters Kiran, Mary-Jeanne and Margaret with an email detailing their previous facilitation experience. Please send to teachertraining@brahmakumaris.org.

A few additional support helpers are also needed who have good office and people skills to help with various tasks including administration, registration and valuables, accommodation, dining services and special diets etc. Once these tasks are completed such helpers are welcome to join any of the sessions except the practicums, however, their first responsibility would be to fulfill their support duties. If there is anyone in your Centre whom you feel would be suitable and enjoy this opportunity for service, please let the training organisers know at: teachertraining@brahmakumaris.org.

Please pass this information to anyone who you feel would be a suitable participant for the training, or to help as a facilitator or in the support role.  After obtaining permission from their Center Coordinator, all participants (regardless of role) must register for the training directly online at https://angelofshiva.com/teacher-training/ as soon as possible, but latest by Saturday, 1st February 2020.

In Baba’s yaad,

Sisters Kiran, Margaret, Rona, and Mary-Jeanne

Invitation to the Spirit of Care Retreat 7-9 March 2020, Gyan Sarovar

11 November 2019

Dear Centre Coordinators, dear all,

The cycle of time is ending, and new beginnings call.

We are coming to completion, and like the conch shell echoing in the distance, we hear the call of time and of our hearts. The call to shake old identities, reunite with our original self and return once more to the pure essence of our being.

To do this we need to remember… remember who we are and the art of caring and kindness: caring for ourselves, others, the world and for nature - our companion.

But how can we keep the balance? How can we find the energy needed for this enquiry, for this journey back to our essence?

The spirit of care is a beautiful, unique retreat that gives us the luxury of time and space for spiritual enquiry. Time to reflect on the journey towards authenticity and freedom.

We invite you to spend 3 days to explore, share and learn as we clear the blocks on our journey forward. We will reconnect with the self and the One, ignite the flames of yoga and create the energy needed to bring us resilience and stamina.

This is time spent in the sacred sanctuary of Madhuban, with yourself and others. Time to create a map that guides us, and leads us to reunite with the purity, strength and beauty of our divine essence…..

REGISTRATION:

Registration is only available ONLINE. Please follow the link: brahmakumaris.org/r/spirit-of-care

Madhuban forms and travel details are to be submitted in the usual way, via the local centres.

If you do not speak English fluently, please make sure with your national coordination teams that there will be someone in Madhuban who can translate for you during the retreat. If you have any questions please contact valeriane.bernard@ch.brahmakumaris.org.

Important Madhuban update on Health, Hygiene and Water

1 September 2019

Dear Centre Coordinators, Om shanti, and loving greetings.

In March of this year, we informed you that a team of consultants was created to support Madhuban in addressing the Health, Hygiene and Water issues.  Br Arun and Sr Sybil are health and safety experts from the UK and Br Mohit (Abu Dhabi) and Br Sharad (Pune), are experts in water and wastewater treatment.

We are happy to inform you that, with Baba's blessings, some good progress has been made in these areas.  We know that quite a few of you have had health episodes during your last visits to Madhuban and you also have concerns about booking your next Madhuban visit, therefore we hope that this update will be useful and reassuring.

A good level of safety and hygiene has been achieved in the Kitchen and cross contamination risks have reduced.  Amongst the main changes, a new Water Treatment Plant is in process to be set up to ensure that all water coming into the Shantivan Complex especially, is treated to WHO (World Health Organisation) standards and qualifies as potable drinking water.  The water will be regularly tested and all necessary measures have been taken to ensure that the drinking water is safe in all three complexes, and the water will be regularly tested going forward.

If you are planning to stay in Shantivan anytime from October 2019 to January 2020 – we would still recommend as an extra caution that you purchase mineral water bottles for brushing teeth; especially if you have health issues and/or low immunity. The Water Treatment Plant will only be functional from beginning of February 2020, thereafter it will be safely guaranteed to brush teeth with the normal tap water.

Please find below a link video introducing especially the Health and Hygenie changes.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Zz5uK3haXry3bTGcC4ylxrsBFMcoM_wj/view?usp=sharing

In addition the attached written pdf report outlines the progress with pictures in both Health, Hygiene and Water.

We hope that you enjoy all the fruits of the hard efforts over the last months by the team and the Madhuban niwasis - who are all waiting to welcome their brothers and sisters home.

Some of you have indicated that you would like to make financial contributions towards this progress and more details of how to do that will follow shortly.

In Baba’s yaad,

Didi Nirmala and Sr Jayanti

DF Travel Database System is now ready for use

(Please forward this information to your main Travel Coordinators)

1 September 2019

Dear NCs and Travel Coordinators,

As the Madhuban season draws closer many will be starting to book their flights and make their travel arrangements and the DF Travel Database System is now ready for use.

As in previous years, all pilgrims going to Madhuban must have their details and travel arrangements entered into the DF Travel Database system so that Madhuban, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Mumbai etc. can be prepared for your arrival, pickup and accommodation.

Comments Section – 17 October & 15 November Groups

Please note that as there are only limited numbers of people for the 17 October and 15 November meetings per campus, if someone has been given permission by the NC to go to Madhuban, please enter under the Comments Section on the database which campus someone is to stay in; i.e. either at the top of the mountain or in Shantivan.  You can also add in the Comments section if someone is going for POM or IPIP for easy reference.

The BK DF Accommodation Department will be able to allocate people to the campuses once they see the entire list and requirements. Therefore we are requesting that pilgrims are flexible with accommodation in Gyan Sarovar or Pandav Bhawan during this time, and not insist on either campus.

Please note that the NC/RC will need to keep a track of those who are to stay up the mountain or in Shantivan so that they remain within their allocated numbers.

Improvements to the system

Last year there were many improvements made to the DF Travel Database system by our international IT Team so that the system can better facilitate everyone’s travel and stay in Madhuban.

Some of the most significant changes were:

  • Login to the system via a Gmail or official BK email account.
  • Passport details to be entered for all travellers.
  • The system expects each section of the journey to be entered i.e. any accommodation needed in Ahmedabad, Delhi, Mumbai and Madhuban has to be specifically entered.
  • Once details have been entered the system automatically emails a copy to the traveller so that they can confirm that the details are correct.
  • The email will also include a time-limited link for them to check their personal details and give consent for their data to be held for subsequent seasons.
  • The email will also include a link to a partially completed Arrival Form C for them to print out and take with them to Madhuban.
  • PLEASE NOTE: it is very important to enter the correct email for the visitor otherwise this process will not work.
  • Also, if consent is not provided, their data will have to be erased from the DF Travel database system for subsequent seasons, and you will again need to collect their photos and enter the data - so please let everyone know the importance of this.

The link to access the DF travel Database is:

Here is the link to the training videos prepared last season which you may find helpful:

If you have any further questions or need help please contact

Announcement  - Theme 2019 / 2020 DF Season

13 August 2019

Dear Centre Coordinators,

Om shanti, and greetings of love.  Each year the planning team for the double foreign season searches for a theme for the season in Madhuban that will inspire and support the family in our spiritual journey. This year we have chosen as our theme,
Bapsaman - The Journey and the Destination.

During 2019 we all have been experimenting with the theme of Return to the Source. We want to deepen this exploration during the Madhbuan Season by looking at the return journey itself, when we are following in the footsteps of Brahma Baba in order to reach our destination of becoming like Shiv Baba.

Baba tells us that we are elevated souls of the confluence age, living a spiritual life. The Guide is with us, giving us blessings and shrimat. We are experiencing the joy of being with the Brahmin family, inspiration from the murli and the magic of Madhuban. We are following the father and becoming like Shiv Baba.

We will bring this double vision to the season – the vision of our collective aim of becoming Bapsaman, while at the same time appreciating all the gifts of this time. We’ll do this through a wide variety of master classes with our seniors, retreats, bhattis, silent experiences, reflective workshops as well as a variety of other activities.

We will be sending out further details for each of the groups in the near future.  We look forward to being with you in the Madhuban season ahead.

In Baba’s sweet remembrance,

The Double Foreign Planning Team

Madhuban Season update

8 August 2019

Dear Centre Coordinators, Greetings of peace,

Following our communication of 5 July giving full details of the Madhuban Season for 2019, we now have some updated information to share with you:

1)  Increase in numbers for Group 2

There is good news that more double foreigners can be accommodated in Gyan Sarovar and Pandav Bhawan for Group 2 (2-3 November to 16-17 November). (Previously it was 50 in Gyan Sarovar and 100 in Pandav Bhawan). This accommodation will be in dormitories.

The below numbers exclude a) accommodation for guests, b) BK companions / helpers for guests (however as Harmony House and Vishnupuri is reserved for the guests, some BK companions and helpers will be accommodated in Raj Rishi Bhawan).

So the numbers are:

  -  150 DFs in Gyan Sarovar (who are willing to stay in Raj Rishi Bhawan dormitories)

  -  150 DFs in Pandav Bhawan (who are willing to stay in dormitories)

  -  100 DFs in Shantivan (Hindi-speaking double foreigners

Therefore the allocation is as follows:

  -  Gyan Sarovar and Pandav Bhawan: 60 per region

  -  Shantivan: 20 per region

Please let your NC office know how many BKs wish to come for Group 2. The NC office will liaise with the RC to confirm those spaces or otherwise.

2)  Schedule for Madhuban Season

Please find attached an updated schedule for the Madhuban Season. Please note this includes:

  -  Adjusted - IPIP dates – 4-10 November 2019

  -  New – Latino Retreat in ORC – 10-16 February 2020

  -  New – Silence Retreat in ORC for NCs, CCs, NCTs, CRs, Class and Gita Pathshala Coordinators

Launch of the film "Dadi Janki - Touching Your Heart"

2 August 2019

Dear Centre Coordinators,

We all know it; Dadi Janki is a spiritual giant and a true Wonder Woman!

For almost two years Brothers Prashant and Prabhu from Gyan Sarovar, and Brother Eric from Canada, have squeezed into their busy schedules a unique project, in order to show the world the wonders of Dadi's life and the uniqueness of the Yagya.

They have created a film intended for a western, non-BK audience, and we are inviting you to make full use of it for service at your respective centres. Of course, BKs will also enjoy watching it, as well as all Brothers and Sisters in Bharat.

"Dadi Janki - Touching Your Heart" can be used for public programs or to commemorate Dadi's birthday, or any event you feel appropriate. It is now available on YouTube at the following address: https://youtu.be/vdqb2m6XWww

You can also find it on Dadi Janki’s Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/DadiJanki/

To introduce the film, you can use the following text:

Dadi Janki - Touching Your Heart

Some might call her a spiritual genius. From a very young age, her destiny became very clear: To know the self, God, and serve humanity. Now over 100 years old, Dadi Janki has touched millions of hearts all over the world. Her words sing the songs of deep spiritual understanding, and her wisdom challenges our own perception of who we are, of God, and our destiny.

If you want to produce a version in your own language, you can contact Brother Eric ateric.lereste@ca.brahmakumaris.org to obtain the English script, to help you in translating the audio.

We hope you enjoy the experience of seeing this celebration of Dadi and find it useful.

With love and warmest regards,

RCs

Invitation for The Moment of Calm - 2 August 2019

27 July 2019

Dear NCs and CC's, Loving greetings,

Please see the poster and letter below , about the project " The Moment of Calm". This project is promoting forgiveness by asking us all to take 2 minutes of silence on 2nd August at 2pm local time. Like the last few years, this is something we would like to support worldwide.

The project is being promoted by the Sadhu Vaswani Mission, who have had a strong connection with the Brahma Kumaris from the early days of Sind.

Their Guruji, respected Dada Jashan, ascended last year and was very close to Dadi Janki.

Could you please send this information to all the centres in your country.

With love,

in Baba's yaad

RCs

The Moment of Calm - Invitation to pause for 2 minutes on 2 August at 2pm (local time)

It is an honor and privilege to invite the Brahma Kumaris to join us in Rev. Dada J.P. Vaswani’s birthday initiative. As you know, his birthday, August 2nd, is observed as a Global Forgiveness Day with his birth time 2pm being designated as the Moment of Calm. Beloved Dada believed that if there is one quality the world needs more than anything else, it is the twice-blessed quality of forgiveness. It blesses both, the one who forgives and the one who is forgiven. His legacy of forgiveness and peace continues to inspire and heal hearts around the world.

How to participate –

·         Simply observe 2 mins silence on August 2 @ 2pm

·         Forgive and clear the heart of ill feelings

·         Breathe out positivity and peace

You can participate from wherever you are. This honest en masse act of spreading positive energy, we believe, can uplift humanity and usher in an era of peace and harmony.

It will be an honor to have the entire Brahma Kumari family join us in this noble initiative. We humbly request you to please share this message across your centers.

Thank you.

In the One Service,

Sincerely,

Naresh Singhani

Dates for Madhuban Season 2019/20

08 July 2019

Dear Centre Coordinators,

Season’s dates and Double Foreigners Program

Madhuban is welcoming us and this season we have the fortune of 11 groups for the Avyakt meetings. Below is a schedule of dates for the 2019-2020 season

As you will see below, the full season for double foreigners will start with the Avyakt Meeting on 30 November, with smaller groups welcome for 17 October and 15 November Avyakt Meetings.

Groups One & Two:  17 October and 15 November 2019 Avyakt Meetings

Due to a continuous number of guest retreats in Gyan Sarovar and festivals from mid-October to early December, all of the rooms in Harmony House, Vishnupuri and Shanti Kunj Bhawan will be occupied by guests, BK companions for guests, helpers and IP/VIP Bharatwasi guests.

Therefore, during this time, for BKs who are not helping with the retreats and are coming for the season, only dormitory-style accommodation will be available in Raj Rishi Bhawan (Gyan Sarovar) and Pandav Bhawan. As only a limited number can be accommodated we wish to offer these places to those groups who can adjust with dormitories.

A small number of Hindi-speaking BKs can be accommodated in Shantivan for 17 October and 15 November meetings. This group may have day visits to Pandav Bhawan and Gyan Sarovar, but would not be able to stay.

The numbers are:

  -  50 DFs in Gyan Sarovar (who are willing to stay in Raj Rishi Bhawan dormitories)

  -  100 DFs in Pandav Bhawan (who are willing to stay in dormitories)

  -  100 DFs in Shantivan (Hindi-speaking DFs)

Therefore the allocation is as follows:

  -  Gyan Sarovar and Pandav Bhawan: 30 per region

  -  Shantivan: 20 per region

Please let your NC office know how many BKs wish to come for these groups by 15 July. The NC office will liaise with the RC to confirm those spaces or otherwise.

Group Three:  30 November Avyakt Meeting

As there will be guest retreats in Gyan Sarovar until early December, 300 BKS can be accommodated in Gyan Sarovar, and 100 BKs can be accommodated in Pandav Bhawan in dormitory-style accommodation only.

Please be aware that as a very large group of guests will be in Gyan Sarovar until 24 November, it may be that the rooms you want are not ready on your arrival, as they need to be cleaned, but please just adjust and be patient.

Groups Four onwards:  Avyakt Meeting of 15 December 2019 onwards

Double Foreigners may arrange their travel for Group 4 dates onwards. Accommodation for double foreigners will be in Gyan Sarovar and Pandav Bhawan.

It is requested that double foreigners come for one meeting, and adhere to the Group Dates, as there are just few days in between for the cleaning of rooms before the next group arrives.

It is requested that those coming for Group 11, leave on the dates mentioned, to allow for cleaning and preparation for the season of Indian retreats and meetings.

Retreats with Centre Residents & Right Hands of Centres (incl Gita Pathshala Coordinators)

Please note that this season there will not be a retreat for this group in October as there has been in the last few years. Instead, we will be holding a few two-day retreats during the DF program for those from Centre Residents & Right Hands of Centres (incl Gita Pathshala Coordinators). More information about these will be coming to you.

There will be DF Programs in all 11 of the Groups

Please note that for the groups where there is a smaller number of Double Foreigners present, there will be a small range of activities and classes available. For the largest Groups, in particular groups 9 & 10, there will be a wide number of activities, classes, retreats and seniors.

Accommodation

Those who need small rooms due to health, couples who need a room together or the elderly, are requested to avoid the 17 October and 15 November meetings, and to come for the 6 March, 20 March or 3 April meetings where more facilities are available. Please avoid coming for the 20 February meeting as the NCs & CCs will be there and it's also much colder in mid-February.

We look forward to an uplifting season.

With love,

In Baba's yaad,

RCs

A Resource for Parents and Workshops for BK Parents

06 June 2019

Dear NCs & CCs,

Please share information about this useful resource for parents with any parents in your centres.

If you would also like to offer a few workshops to BK parents there is some guidance for this below

In Baba’s yaad,

RCs

Dear NCs and CCs, radiant stars of love, light and wisdom, Om shanti and loving greetings.

I was on a Care and Wellbeing GF conference call recently with Charlie, Maureen, Moira, Gopi and Chrissy from Australia, Valeriane and Sarah.  Moira shared that people were always asking for something for parents. As you may know, some families are having problems with young people being very attached to cell phones, and there is an increase in depression, anxiety and suicide among children 11 and older.  I shared several ideas with them, and am writing to you after receiving their blessings and the blessings of our RCs, Mohinibenji, Nirmala Didiji and Jayantibenji.

A Resource for Parents

I wrote “Nurturing with Love and Wisdom, Disciplining with Peace and Respect: A mindful guide to parenting” with all families in mind, including BK families.  Released in November 2014, it is totally BK friendly and appropriate. After receiving the blessing from the RCs, I lowered the price for the eBooks in English and Spanish on amazon to US $0.99.  The eBook in Spanish is free if you have unlimited Kindle membership.  The books are also available in Portuguese and Vietnamese at the BK Centers in those countries.

  • The book is very useful and pertinent in these delicate times.  One BK parent told me that she reads it before going to sleep at night as it helps calm her down.
  • There are eight sections with a total of 34 chapters in the book. I have attached a file sharing some of the contents.

If parents are having difficulties with their children, then it is recommended that they begin reading, in the following order:

  • Chapter 3: The Importance of Play and Us Time

  • Chapter 5: Love, Affection and Attention

  • Chapter 6: Appreciation and Building Positive Behaviors

  • Chapter 7: Active Listening

The first step is always to re-establish relationship, hence the above recommendation. As they read and implement these, then they can start on the chapters in Section Three regarding disciplining with peace and respect.

There are also chapters on preventing sexual abuse and drug use, helping children deal with bullying, and dealing with social media.

Offering Workshops for BK Parents

  • If you would like to offer a few workshops to BK parents, you may take them directly from the book.  (You may wish to read at least section two and three first!)

Chapters that would be good 90 minute workshops are:

  • Workshop 1:  Chapters 3, 5 and 6

  • Workshop 2:  Feedback from the first workshop, and practice of communication skill in chapter 6, with some content from chapter 23 about family time in the evening and limiting cell phone use.

  • Workshop 3:  Feedback on their experiences and then Chapter 7 on Active listening

  • Workshop 4:  Same as above

  • Workshop 5:  Ask them what difficulties they are experiencing and then choose the chapters on discipline accordingly.

  • Workshop 6:  If you have an LVE teacher or facilitator in your BK group, they would be great at leading a workshop resolving conflicts (chapter 26) and dealing with bullying (chapter 31)

Love, light and all good wishes in Baba’s yaad,

Sr. Diane

(Diane G. Tillman)

P.S.  If you would like more than ten physical books in English or Spanish, let me know.  I can get it to you anywhere in the world for US $11.00, including shipping. Please send an email to sealbeach@us.brahmakumaris.org

The 24th Peace of Mind Experience: 5-12 October 2019

6 April 2019

Dear Centre Coordinators,

It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that we inform you the dates of the 24th Peace of Mind meditation experience.

The program title came from one of Mama’s Murlis when she spoke the words ‘Peace of Mind’ in English. Since 1995, the program inspired by Mama and Dadi Prakashmaniji, has served to open the hearts and minds of thousands of friends from around the world by exposing them to the ‘heart’ of the Yagya.

The organising team, with Dadi Janki’s blessings, continue to develop and innovate ways to give ongoing energy to this very successful service program. There is an increased focus on:
•     deepening the meditation experience with a practical approach to sessions
•     ways to sustain effective spiritual practices in everyday life after guests return home
•     active engagement of companions as mentors and friends during the retreat
•     an optional visit to the Solar One facility at Shantivan following the program.

Peace of Mind is designed for people who would like to study a full program of Baba’s knowledge and experience the depths of meditation in the atmosphere of Madhuban, including:
•     Professionals and Community Leaders who have an interest or are genuinely engaged in some spiritual endeavour, and
•     People/Friends who are connected with the Brahma Kumaris and/or are likely to appreciate our philosophy
and practices.
The program is not for students or contact souls who currently attend the centre on a regular basis, nor murli students who do not otherwise qualify to go to Madhuban.

Madhuban niwassis do their very best to ensure that we can offer comfortable accommodation and the best possible learning environment. Guest numbers are limited - shared twin rooms are the guest accommodation standard. Participation is by invitation only. If you would like to invite a guest, please arrange this in conjunction with your National Coordinator who will send them an invitation.

Please ensure your guest has a companion who is willing to actively engage in their care and learning during the retreat. Make sure your guests arrive on October 5 and depart on October 12, thank you.

Please note the new website http://www.peaceofmindretreat.org to send to potential guests.

Thanks, In Baba’s Yaad,
The Peace of Mind Co-ordinating Team

5 January 2019

From your inner sanctuary –

Open your wings and fly

Dear Centre Coordinators,

Hello and Om Shanti. We are delighted to share with you details of the sixth Spirit of Care Retreat to be held in Gyan Sarovar. This is a warm and open invitation to each member of our beautiful Brahmin Family.

We all have our own silent, safe and wise place within us - at the epi-centre of our soul.

The place where the light burns brightest....

A ‘sanctuary’ of our own ... a sacred place within where we can take refuge and find peace ... a place where God’s presence waits patiently for our return.

With one thought we can be there... to find peace, re-connection, love and the wisdom of insight...

Here in our inner sanctuary we can be free from the constraints of the world. Free to heal the self, our relationship with others, empower nature and the elements, and sit in God’s presence.

We would be happy if you could join us to explore this inner sanctuary over 3 days at this the 10th anniversary of the Spirit of Care retreat.

We will explore the sacredness, silence and greatness our inner sanctuary offers us....

Spread your wings and fly free....

New Year Message 2019

15 December 2018

Dear National Coordinators and Centre Coordinators,

Greetings of love

Travel of Indian BKs to Centres of Outside of Bharat

20 November 2018

Dear Centre Coordinators,

We are sure that many of you are getting ready for your travel to India for the Avyakt meetings and spiritual sustenance from the seniors.

As you will be traveling to India it is good to respect the guidelines set out by the Brahma Kumaris including the DF Travel Database system and the arrival and departure dates.

We would also like to bring to your attention some information and recommendations concerning Indian BKs living in lokik families and surrendered BKs who wish to travel abroad.  This can be a welcome support for the centres but sometimes a challenge to respond to these requests.

Below are a few guidelines which you might like to use to help you manage the flow of guests and requests of the BKs coming to your country and centres:

1.    We request that Centre Coordinators make their students aware not to give personal invitation/sponsorship letters to any BKs from India, without taking consent from the Country/Zone Coordinators, both in India and the foreign country.

2.    Please inform BKs from India who plan their trip for sightseeing etc. to arrange their own hotel accommodation and meals. They can be advised to take a package tour which covers accommodation and other facilities.

3.    We request that Country Coordinators check with the Indian Centre/ Madhuban before providing accommodation for anyone who has made their own trip to foreign lands.

4.    Some Indians have children who are working or studying in foreign countries, and so they visit those countries for some months of the year. Sometimes they are not regular BKs, and may have had very limited exposure to gyan but say they are regular students.

We request Centre Coordinators/Country Coordinators to first get confirmation from the relevant Indian Centre as to whether or not they are regular students.

As these Indian visitors have more free time, they think of spending the time at the Centre. Gradually they also ask for facilities, meals and transport to get home etc. We request that the Centre Coordinators inform them of the systems at the Centre and create clear boundaries, as many Centres do not have the facilities, personnel or time. Even if they are regular BKs and bring an introduction letter from their Indian Centre, initially they can just be allowed to come for Murli Class and Meditation.

5.    Some Indian BKs living in lokik families or surrendered BKs from India have relatives in foreign countries (mostly Gujarati and Indian families), and so they come on their invitation and stay with them during their visit. If for some reason these BKs come to the Centre for help concerning their lokik family, it is recommended that Centre Coordinators exercise caution and do not get involved in their personal matters.

6.    If quality Indian BK students (IP or VIP BKs) are traveling abroad for any reason, and the Indian Centre/Madhuban Seniors have asked you to provide accommodation and meals, the Centre Coordinator can inform them of what is convenient and possible for the Centre. If it is not possible to arrange accommodation at the Centre, the Centre Coordinator can be clear about telling them to arrange their own hotel accommodation. Please take advice from your Country Coordinator/s if you are unsure.

7.    Occasionally, Indian BKs living in lokik families or surrendered BKs get some shopping done in foreign lands, and then ask the Centre or students of the foreign Centre to bring their luggage and shopping back to India. The Centre Coordinators need to be firm with them and let them know that it is not practical to carry a third person's luggage these days as airlines are very strict about excess weight and the contents of all pieces of luggage. If there is an unfortunate incident, then the name of the Institution can be damaged.

8.    Sometimes Indian BKs living in lokik families or surrendered BKs ask the Centre Coordinators or students for a loan, and say they will repay it later when they meet in Madhuban or India. As Baba's directions about this are very clear, Centre Coordinators need to be firm about not loaning money to anyone, and inform their students about this also.

With loving respect for all Baba's systems and maryadas,

In Baba’s yaad,

RCs

Please Note: If Indian visitors wish to visit Madhuban for the Avyakt Meeting as a Double Foreigner, please first ask your NC/NCT to send an email to Didi Nirmala. and Shashiben with a copy to your RC, to request permission.

Media Coverage and news of Br Eric Swaffer and Sister Izabela, UK

9 November 2018

Dear Centre Coordinators,

It is now more than a week since the tragedy in Leicester, UK when the helicopter belonging to the owner of the Leicester City Football Club in the UK, crashed. Our brother Eric Swaffer was the pilot of the helicopter and his partner, our sister Izabela was also on the flight.

This is a note to let you know that on Sunday, myself, Sanjay and Rosemary met Izabela's sister and her partner. It was a warm and friendly meeting, touched with much sadness. Their plan is to have a small, private, family funeral and we at Global Co-operation House will arrange a memorial service for Eric and Izabela shortly after it has taken place. There is the hope that the family will be able to attend.

I have been nominated as the spokesperson regarding any media enquiries and would appreciate anyone receiving a call from the media/social media that they first get in touch with Rosemary rosemary.turberville@uk.brahmakumaris.org WhatsApp and UK mobile +44 7952188779, or Rachel rachel.priestman@uk.brahmakumaris.org WhatsApp and UK mobile +44 7944 713750 in GCH.

There has been such intense media coverage about it all and the family hopes to avoid any more publicity. We therefore kindly request that BKs refrain from putting any comments out on social media regarding Eric and Izabela and the tragedy. The family is very aware of the worldwide love and regard for both of them and appreciate it very much. They need time to come to terms with their loss.

Thank you for your cooperation.

With love,

In Baba’s yaad,

BK Jayanti
