Sudesh Didi – 29th January 2023 Sunday Morning Class - GCH, London - The Difference between Donation and Charity

2 February 2023

The Difference between Donation and Charity

Om Shanti. Om shanti. Good morning. Golden morning. The beautiful song (Daani bano Mahadaai Bano दानी बनो वरदानी बनो ) we hear in the morning time. The song is the trailer for the story of the drama that is going to be enacted.

Gyani bano. Mahadaani bano.” Be knowledgeable; be a great donor; be a bestower of blessing. Today’s Murli explains everything very clearly. Hearing the song and having read the Murli, I was thinking that there are stages. We are Baba’s children, and the song is saying donate, donate: become daani, Mahadaani, vardaani (donor, great donor, bestower of blessings). How to become that? You can give a donation only when you have it within. It is also said, “Incognito donation is the act of charity”.

Cooperation, donation, and charity are actually connected with other virtues. You give cooperation with love. When there is love, friendship, communication, easiness with each other, there is good cooperation. Donation requires other qualities whether it is mercy, love sympathy; it is out of feelings, out of love. So, then, what is charity? What is the difference between charity and donation? Charity is the power which brings benevolence to others. It is uplifting the soul and enables the soul to be powerful.

Today, Baba is speaking about donation to the mind; incognito. What you are serving, it is with the power of the mind. To do good wishes, even the mind has to be very pure, peaceful, powerful, with benevolent consciousness that your thoughts are filled with blessings, your thoughts are filled with power, you only see what is good in others. In order to develop this, you need to have yoga power. Then, the question comes: But we are children of the Almighty, so power is in us. But in fact, you need to practice it, use it, in order to donate it, or give it. It is time you learn to give. When we are Baba’s children, as we know that we are souls, and the children of the Almighty Authority, and still, in many situations and many times in our lives, there is no power; not the physical power. God gives us spiritual power, and spiritual power is the power of the soul. And what is that power?

It begins with the power of light, like the powerhouse. The power works here (in the auditorium) when we are connected to the power house (the power station).  We have a generator, then different lights are connected, and it works wherever it is needed. God is the Generator, the Almighty Authority. So, we children, as souls, are the children of God. But it is not that every time this power is used; it is when there is a need of the power that the power is used. So, in the Golden Age, we do not use power. We are now the children of the Almighty, and they are called divine beings, deities. They do not use the power consciously, but they are the embodiment of power.

When the sun is shining, you do not think of light or to switch on the light. So, it is natural light. The soul is conscious that I am a point of light; light is might. So that power is called the power of knowledge. The soul is, at this time, recharged with that power. And when the battery is full, it works automatically, you do not have to recharge it. Gradually the same battery becomes discharged, you need to recharge it.

So, this is the time that we need to recharge our battery. We have used it, consumed it, and for that, how we use it, how we consume it, how we make it, lose it, misuse it; this is the knowledge which is, not only knowledge of the soul and God, but it is the knowledge of the whole cycle.

Certain powers we do not use at all in the Golden Age, and they do not exist in us. We are not even aware as they are not the powers. What are those? Brahmin powers; Confluence-aged powers, that is, the power to withdraw, the power to pack up, the power to discriminate, the power to tolerate, the power to accommodate, the power to merge and the power to face. Why would we need to use them? In the Golden Age, these powers do not exist. In fact, these power are needed when we have become weak and when we have to fight.

In the Golden Age, there is no donation; there is not any need of any power of such kind. This is the time when we become aware of all the powers: the power the soul, the power of matter and through the whole cycle, which different powers we use at each period. They do not the supernatural power like you can walk on water or  go through fire. We are actually developing the power to walk in fire yet do not get burned; fire is around you, but you keep yourself protected. We become firefighters, and which is that power? It is Godly power, the power of peace, the power of love, the power of purity, the power of benevolence.

At this time, the Godly power is received. For that, you need to study, you need to learn how to use that power. Just as to protect ourselves from the fire, the firefighter would not jump into the fire without wearing a fireproof suit. In the same way, we need to change the consciousness from one of the body to that of the soul. We have been identifying ourselves with the body, not only just in one life, but for many lives. And now is the time that we once again imbibe this power and consciousness changes. And we wear the dress of the spiritual power that is originally the power of the soul and the power of God. You have this Godly power as a birthright, and the sanskar in the form of intoxication, “I am a child of God. I am a child of God, I am the child of the Master Almighty,” we use this expression. But you do not know how to use it. It is just like, I notice sometimes children sit on a scooter and pretend they are driving. They sit in the car, and pretend that they were driving their own car, “ It's my car.” So, in the same way, in order to really, really act, you have to learn it. That is why we are children, but it is a school. Baba says, “I am not only the Father, the Father of all souls, but I become the Teacher of you children. So, He makes us students, to study, to understand the method to use. It does not matter how powerful the machinery is, you need to learn to use it. So, we are learning to use these powers, how to walk through the fire. Keep protecting yourself. Fire is not finished just by wearing that fireproof suit. You need the source, the water to finish the fire. The fireproof suit is to protect you, but not to finish the fire. Of course, we become soul conscious, but it is not enough. By becoming body conscious, vices come very quickly: jealousy, hatred, rejection, and violence. Body consciousness opens the door to all these, and with no power to go through it, we begin to burn in it. Jealousy is burning the heart. Anger is not only burning the heart, but even the energy level becomes so weak. All these vices: lust anger, greed, and attachment, they are all different; they each have a different energy which destroys our true power. So, we have the power, we develop this power, but it has to be in the connection with God, the Generator, inside. So, we are not only studying knowledge, we become Raja yogi.

Yoga is needed, and power is needed. This understanding is not enough. And so, and then you become Raj Yogi. In order to have this power, you need to become Raj Rishi. Rishi means you have to have the power of purity, pure consciousness. Otherwise, the virtues which we have, we will begin to use it with a selfish motive, we will begin to use them with the wrong authority, or we begin to use them to cause yourself harm and harm others. The wrong authorities will be used.

Spiritual authority is the right authority. So, what do we have to donate? How do we donate? The power of the mind is the best power, incognito power. And these powers are to empower others. The real power of the mind is to make the other souls’ minds powerful. It is not a visible thing; it is invisible. So, it means, in order to give power to other souls with the mind, my mind has to be very clean, peaceful, pure, stable, benevolent, merciful, loveful, forgiving and able to let go. So, these powers are to control myself.  If the other person is getting angry, and I want to give the power, I want to finish myself from that anger; I have to have the power at that time, that I am a peaceful soul. I have to develop my peace. When I am not reacting, and I am patient, what happens? You do not see anything, as that person is shouting at you, inside you hear yourself say, “I am a merciful soul.” And I have knowledge as to why this person gets angry? You do not need to ask, “Why are you getting angry?” You know why: There are expectations, or there is some misunderstanding, or there is some tiredness. So, there are certain reactions coming in front of you, and you are protected automatically. At that time, I have mercy on myself and mercy on others.

I first fill myself with the right understanding, with the right virtues and with the right consciousness. So, it is only not the power of the mind. It is the power of intellect, because the intellect is making you understand: Be cool. If somebody is getting angry, and is shouting at you, don’t think: This person is shouting. What is my karma that I have to tolerate all these situations.  With understanding, we think: What a wonderful drama, I am in a Disneyland, and the person is dressed up as a monkey or a tiger, but behind the costume, this is a very beautiful person. So, the beautiful person I am seeing is the real person behind the costume. When I see it with this consciousness, I am not allowing myself to take in their anger. Otherwise, I am not using the water to put out the fire. So, I have to use the water of knowledge. I need to shower on them in order to protect myself.

Instead of why, what, where, how, who, and why why, why, “Why makes me cry”, use the power of knowledge, the power of peace, the power of love and the power of good wishes. All these are in the soul; this is spiritual power. So, from why, why, why, knowledge gives us the understanding of why. Instead of asking them what, we ask ourselves: What is the solution? What is the reason? How can it be resolved?  When I use knowledge, the how, why, what, are used to seek solutions. The same screw, I can tie something over it; the same screw, I am spinning it. Depends on how I am spinning it I make something tight or I can make something loose. With the power of knowledge, we change our attitude and become a detached observer. But it is not enough; it is for protection only. The action is to give the power that Baba has given us. How will it reach? Only when I have patience, and honesty to help that soul, and not have a negative vision at that time, thinking he is always angry, this person is like that. Otherwise, I would have put an obstacle in myself, and would not be able to make myself free.

In order to use good wishes and pure feeling, I have to change my feeling first. And when the feelings become deeper and deeper, the vibrations will change that person. If I say, “Why are you getting angry, that person will become angrier, “I want to prove that you are wrong,” as if putting oil in the fire. It is the power of controlling the self, the power of the self instead of the power of ruling others. You are living in the same place, and are able to maintain spirituality in yourself. Spirituality becomes reality. Otherwise, we are only relating spirituality to others, but we are not imbibing it ourselves.  When the practice is for a limited, the result is also for a limited time. More practice, more result. Knowledge is might, but the power of yoga works practically. So, what is the method? By using the virtues. Knowledge is only through the mouth; power is through the mind; virtue is through action and behaviour. There is sweetness, love, acceptance, and appreciation; there are many different qualities. We have a list of 36, or 38 or 50 qualities, but in order to get the power of virtues, the secret is by seeing the virtues in others, appreciating the virtues of others, as this will enable the virtues to become mine, because what I like will come to me. So, it is the secret to understand, using why, what, how, automatically, you can keep yourself safe.

To give power to others, Baba says we need to make ourselves powerful, and use these virtues in a practical way. In action and reaction, virtues are used in order to protect ourselves and protect others; benevolent actions with mind power. This is Manmanabhav. The first step is to focus your mind on Baba, it means, the concentration of the mind; solitude, becoming soul conscious and go into the depth of it, and introspection. So, there are different methods. So, gyani bano, vardaani bano (be knowledgeable, be bestower of blessings) , mahadaani bano, give great donation to others. With  daani , your hand gives like this (Didi gestured the hand giving out something); mahadaani you give from the heart, unlimited (Didi gestured giving with open arms);  vardaani (Didi did abhaya mudra, with the right handheld upright at shoulder height, palm open and facing forwards), all these powers (five fingers):  knowledge, purity, peace, love and benevolence. Five work together. Just like there is complete soul consciousness, with the mind, intellect and sanksars, three stand together, then the action is perfect. When these five powers are together (gestured the five fingers): knowledge, purity, peace, love, and benevolence and happiness, it means to give happiness to others; when they are together, no fight. Lakshmi does not fight; Durga is fighting, Amba is fighting, what are they fighting, not with human.

We become children, innocent Baba’s children, then we become students, then we become fighters, Godly military, spiritual army. We fight our own inner vices, conquering them and we automatically enable others to conquer theirs. And then, Lakshmiji, with the power of realisation, the discus, the mace, cool down, power of kalash (pitcher), wisdom, all these things are the spiritual power which is shown in the hands of shaktis and deities. So, when these powers are… then we are conquering weaknesses and vices; there is no other enemy. And these are in ourselves. So, we become our friend and we also become our enemy. So, in order to have friendship, I have to cooperate with myself first, then I can cooperate with others.  Help myself then help yourself, then God also helps me and help others. So, real cooperation is I give cooperation to myself to cool myself; make myself peaceful, become my own friend, then, become my own teacher, instead of teaching others, when I observe myself, I know this is what I have to change, and then, we are able to give others. Otherwise, Baba is helping us actually, most of the time, when we are doing service, 80% Baba does; touch someone and they become Baba’s children.  20% is ourselves we make effort. If it was all the time, then every time should be a good result. Why it is only one or two times that somebody is touched and next time, what happened? Where has that power gone?

So, Baba keeps our honour, it is God's love; it works in a different way. So, Baba says and then you become a real instrument, really humble. So, the greatest power is the power of humility. Humility, God is bodiless, and Brahma is egoless, and that power works in practical action. So, what is the greatest power? Knowledge and the result is: Be a humble soul, pure, peaceful soul; purity, peace and humility. These are the main powers which automatically work in benevolence in the form of Mahadaani Punya Atma (Great donor and charitable soul). So, then Lakshmi Ji is receiving and giving, receiving and giving.

So, Baba is giving us, we are giving it to others. So, that is the greatest charity. It is incognito because it does not belong to me. It is coming from there; it is going to others. So gyani bano (be knowledgeable), mahadaani bano (be a great donor), vardaani bano (be a bestower of blessings). Lakshmi is vardaani. Maha Lakshmi. Today's Murli explains all these things very clearly. Om shanti.
