Brahma Kumaris Address World Hindi Day Celebrations in Guyana

30 January 2023

Georgetown, Guyana (South America): High Commission of India and Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center in Georgetown, Guyana organized a program on World Hindi Day, in which Brahma Kumaris were invited.

BK Kinnari addressing the gathering on the occasion said, “We’ve gathered today today to honor Hindi, one of the world’s most ancient languages and a piece of our collective heritage. Hindi is one of India’s national languages and among the top 10 languages spoken in the world today.

What is language? It’s the voice of a nation, the way people communicate. It’s not created overnight; rather, it evolves over centuries and generations, developing ever-increasing layers of nuance and meaning.

In contrast, it doesn’t take long for language to disappear. With the passage of time, with the neglect of one’s own culture and the assimilation of another, language can fade away.

There are parallels between the language of the physical being and the language of the soul, or rooh. What is our true language? It’s the original language of the self, and it’s universal. It’s the language of peace, love, harmony, and respect. When we communicate today, whether on a physical level or a spiritual level, do we use the wonderful and extensive vocabulary of our original language?

Words have immense power. They have the power to unite people and topple nations, the power to break and mend hearts. And the amazing thing is that we all have this power. All we have to do to transform ourselves and the entire world is learn how to magnify and wield it. We do this by strengthening our inner selves and honing our ability to discern, which enables us to choose words that are positive, pure, and peaceful.

Relationships are forged with the words used to express our feelings toward each other. When we communicate with others, when we communicate with the divine, let’s do so with the awareness of the true self as a being of light, whose nature is peace. And let’s do so with the awareness of others as the same. What’s in the heart comes out in the form of words. Let’s take care of our hearts so that our mother tongue not only stays preserved but also pure and holy.

Let’s take a moment to step back and listen to our inner voice and language (man ki bhaasha). See the self as a pure being of light, peace, and love. See everyone in the same light. Connect to the source with the language of our hearts. The source, who is the ocean of peace and love.
