6th Annual International Parents Retreat Report

26-29 December 2013

The Sixth International Parents Retreat (IPR), took place in the midst of the nearly Zero Degree Celcius cold and at times cloudy and foggy weather but always beautiful Gyan Sarovar from 26th to 29th of December, side by side with the International Children's Retreat and the International Youth Retreat.

Fifty one (51) participants from fifteen (15) countries attended the retreat with variety of backgrounds including; number of single parents, couples, parents of young children, parents of older children who are out of the house and parents of lokik children, as well as grandparents. The theme of the retreat was, "Your Victory is Guaranteed – Success is Our Birthright".

We would like to present this year's report by sharing the feedbacks shared by the participants, as their
experiences and observations speak volumes.
• The retreat provided many opportunities for small group classes and conversations that created an intimate settings for the group, as opposed the very large setting in Gyan Sarovar where one gets lost in the midst of all sorts of groups.
• It was wonderful and unforgettable moments together while having learned to love the Brahmin family as well as learning how we can become victorious;
• I highly appreciated the roadmap created to make us victorious. All classes were so beneficial. Sister Meera took us to a very high level of yoga and how victory is reached through yoga;
• This retreat taught me that success is the journey and victory is the destination;
• Reinforced my faith that this is the only path. Inspiration by all the classes given by seniors reassured me that victory is guaranteed and that all I have to do is to have faith in myself, Baba and Drama. Plus, classes by sister Vicky was very enjoyable.
• The health and fitness session highlighted the importance of daily excersie and keeping the body healthy to have a good instrument to have strong yoga and I intend to exercise daily;
• I enjoyed Sister Vicky's session – dancing away to do action without any tension, so others can feel the vibration of my peace;
• I learned how to maintain the body healthy and peaceful;
• What I can to learn is that parenting practical problems are international and not personal. It was really nice being together and light;
• I have learned a lot from this retreat. And I have also been able to discover certain subtle negativity inside me through these classes. It also made me realize from the beginning how I was successful in
small things and that it was a journey. Class were really interesting;
• Very happy to be part of this retreat and everything was very interesting;
• I have learned the difference between attachment and being loving as well as the soft vs. hard power by Sister Maureen. Also, she made it clear to us about the ill-effect of the "Looking Good" Syndrom;
• I liked the energizer exercises at the beginning of each session by sister Vicky and sister Sujata's class on healthy relationship between the body and mind. It was very insightful.;
• From Sister Vidanti's class, I took all her experiences. It was so wonderful. Also, it was great sharing on how she has been able to deal with the lack of rain and the yoga power to create rain falls in Africa,
and how we are the masters of the elements and not vice versa;
• I became a better parent, more loving towards my son and at the same time detached and meeting other brahmin family felt very good and stay happy and light all the time;
• It was really very enriching. This retreat helped me to understand the role of parenting better. The various classes made many points of knowledge very clear. As Baba said, "Success is our birthright" and what is success and what is victory, is the short-term and long-term achievements respectfully;
• All the classes were very good especially the classes by sister Meera and sister Sujata.
• Victory spells out to be V=Vices, I=Identified as, C=Courage, T=To, O=Overcome the Obstacles, R=Removing Weaknesses and Vices, Y=making Yourself complete and perfect. Victory is guaranteed when you are with Baba and no third person in between as shared so beautifully by Atam Prakash Bhai.
• Light dance steps that I can include in my daily warmup exercises were very helpful. I also got clarifications from few of my questions about the body care vs. body consciousness as well as the difference between victory and success.
• It was a nice surprise to find out that there was a Parents Retreat because I just came to see Baba and knew that there was a Youth Retreat only. It was my first retreat in Madhuban after being a BK for 15 years;
• Nothing is impossible if one has firm faith in Baba and success can be achieved if one is realistic and well planned;
• I have received self-confidence during this retreat. And in Sister Maureen's class, I have learned about observing our own sanskars (our old stuff) when they emerge and how to work on them;
• Enjoyed sister Meera's class – great insight and practical;
• The opening session with Brother Atam Prakash was very sweet, the cake that he brought with him was even sweeter and his nurturing and loving energy was felt throughout. The yoga experience with Atam Bhai was very deep and impactful. One thing that he shared was "Nothing in the world is impossible for me when I am with Baba".
• It was great to see the review of the past retreat and it would be nice to see the progressive updates of the retreats of the past.

The Retreat and the Year 2013 ended successfully, happily and powerfully with all of us in the retreat having a lot to take back to our service places in terms of reflection, churning, food for thoughts and sweet memories at this insightful International Parents Retreat. On the final evening of the retreat we were blessed with the special chance to visit the 4 Pilgrimage sites in Pandav Bhawan and to climb Baba's Rock together.

In closing, the IPR Team would like to thank BapDada for the great and priceless opportunity to be instruments to create the retreat with Him being the Supreme Coordinator, that we all collectively benefit, grow and fly high. We would also like to thank Didi Nirmala and Sister Meera for supporting us in this retreat as well as all the past retreats, sharing their wisdom, time and invaluable experiences. We learned a lot from this divine connection and elevated relationship developed throughout these past 6 years. We especially like to thank Dileep Bhai from the Training Section and all the Gyan Sarovar niwasis for their endless and tireless cooperation in fullfilling the needs and requests of the retreat coordinators and participants to make the retreat effortless and an absolute success. Our special thanks goes to our sound department as well as the sound facilitator, brother Mayuresh of Mumbai who outshined by being ever-ready, cooperative and always helpful in doing the sound, stopping the sound, taking care of light, camera and action.
The Year 2013 ended successfully, happily and powerfully with all of us having a lot to take back in terms of reflection, churning, food for thoughts, sweet memories at this insightful International Parents Retreat that ended on the evening of December 29th with visiting the 4 Pilgrimage sites in Pandav Bhawan and Baba's Rock.

New Year Greetings from Madhuban family

30 December 2013

Dear divine sisters and brothers in Bharat as well as all parts of the world,

Please accept hearty Godly love and remembrances from Shantivan.

Many, many thanks for your kind words in the form of New Year messages/cards/ emails received from far and wide.

The Year 2013 has been very interesting with different kinds of challenges for the divine family. On a very subtle level, most of us had to cope with the changing scenario during Avyakt BapDada's meetings. However, the most beautiful thing about human consciousness is the spirit of emerging newness at every step, with hope, confidence and faith in the Almighty.

As I write this, I hear from Dr Banarsibhai that Dadi Gulzarji and divine sister Neeluben and others are returning to Shantivan today (Sunday) by around 2pm. This brings new hope to our entire family for the forthcoming special meeting with Avyakt BapDada on New Year's Eve. As we look forward to that momentous meeting, I extend a very, very special and warm greeting to all our divine sisters and brothers for wonderful new beginnings and a very beautiful, bright future throughout the year 2014!!!

For the New Year, let's resolve to live every moment in the highest spiritual consciousness, and engage in most loving interactions and relations, thereby creating practical hope and enthusiasm for humankind.

A very, very happy and prosperous New Year 2014 to all of you!

Respected Dadi Jankiji, Dadi Gulzarji, Dadi Ratan Mohiniji, senior sisters and brothers and the families of Pandav Bhawan, Gyan Sarovar, Shantivan, Global Hospital, Peace Park, Trauma Centre, Museum all join me in sharing heart-felt joyous greetings.

In Spiritual Service,

B.K. Nirwair

International Youth Retreat News from Gyan Sarovar

26 December 2013

Today was the first day of the 18th International Youth Retreat - 'A Magical odyssey into Silence'.
The first days theme was Bhavna.
The opening ceremony at 11am started with a beautiful drishti circle, where everyone received a tilak and pendant/garland with a special virtue, before creating a circle and meeting each soul. This was done outside around the fountain with a beautiful version of the gayatri mantra playing.

We then made our way to the meditation hall where each youth was guided to sit on the ribbon laid out in the shape of Om. The Om Mantra played and a slide show of pictures from the early days of the yagya was shown.
Saurab then sang a beautiful heart opening song, before Vedantiben joined us on the stage and shared some inspirations on the retreats main theme - Silence. She was especially encouraging us not to have boring or dry silence but rather to really enjoy the experience and fill the silence with playful or lovefull chit chat with Baba and that our face should be shining and even smiling with the happiness that emerges in silence.
Meeraben then shared some words and inspirations, and it was noted that she has been to all 18 international youth retreats!! Wow :)
Dipty, Nalishha, and Kim also introduced various aspects of the retreat, and Susanne introduced a new chart system for the retreat called 'pearls of power'. It's a bit like 'karma cash' for those who remember :)

In the afternoon we had sports and then sessions in our age groups followed by some extra powerful and silent yoga with sweet Baba :)

Dinner included the famous Gyan Sarover hot chips. And we finished the day with Goodnight meditation in Babas room.

Looking forward to a beautiful day tomorrow.

Please enjoy the pictures attached.
- YCs singing at the auspicious Christmas concert in Gyan Sarover
- At the 'burning weaknesses' ceremony around the fire! in Shantivan
- Sharing experiences with Dadi at the closing of the YC retreat
- Meeting in Dadis cottage - beautiful and close experiences

Loving Remembrances from Dadi Janki

12 December 2013

To Baba's fortunate jewels, our beloved Brahmin family,  Loving greetings from Pandav Bhawan!

According to drama, Dadi Janki dictates this while sitting in Indraprasth, opposite Tower of Peace. Dadi returned from her tour of Mumbai, ORC and Sonepat yesterday. There were several important events that took place: Annual Day of ORC, BK Couples' Retreat in ORC, opening of Sonepat Retreat Centre, gathering of 5000 in Sonepat... it was Baba's magic all over. Baba has kept such elevated hopes in us, and who else will fulfill them but us?!

Dadi was proud to meet the couples in ORC, and reminded them of two things: maintain a stage free from attachment and obstacles, and secondly utilise body, mind, wealth, and relationships in a worthwhile way. Only then will Baba's sakash work on us. Our focus in these delicate times is on 'Self', 'Baba', 'Yagya', 'Time' and 'Brahmin family'.

Our sweet, royal and beloved Dadi Gulzar, Neeluben and entourage have reached Lotus House, Ahmedabad, on Thursday afternoon. They intend to return to Shantivan soon. We will celebrate a special meeting with BapDada on 15 December. Dadi Gulzar's part is so beautiful!

Dadi was reading a chit-chat some souls had with Dadi Gulzar in Mumbai (4 December) and found it engaging and empowering. Dadi Gulzar was asked: "How can one help change the constantly deteriorating atmosphere around us?" Dadi replied, "We need to change ourselves before we can change the atmosphere, so that the external atmosphere does not affect me. Then serve within the gathering. Become doubly powerful and be cooperative in helping others to transform. But 'I' need to take the intiative. I have to become equal to the Father, before inspiring others".

Dadi Janki came up the mountain on 12th morning to meet with guests of the Rajyoga Meditation Camp in Gyan Sarovar, and then double foreigners in History Hall in the afternoon. Dadi Janki returns to Shantivan in the night.

Dadi enjoys sending the Amritvela messages every Sunday and Thursday, as Baba shares special scenes and inspirations at that time.

All of you will soon receive the special points for 'Mansa Seva' from Madhuban to be practised collectively, each week of January 2014. We will definitely give BapDada the return for all the loving sustenance, attainments and power received over the decades... In Baba's sweet remembrance, B.K. Janki

Loving Yaad from Dadi Janki

20 November 2013

Loving greetings from Abu.

Dadi was remembering GRC and GCH niwasis especially yesterday together with the whole family in the UK and so please send to all.
Dadi says all of you do so much, but most importantly you do it with a smile... Always remember you are doing Service of the Yagya.

It's been special to be with guests of the IPIP retreat in Gyan Sarovar. On Wednesday there was also the lovely opportunity to be with Pandav Bhawan Niwasis in the late morning, and Gyan Sarovar Niwasis in the evening after a long time.

Dadi has been looking at the wonder of the present time: all that needs to happen is happening accurately, without the need of thinking too much! We have to maintain a stage where whoever comes in our contact feels protected and comforted.

In Baba's loving remembrance,
B.K. Janki

Deep Sharings with Madhuban Niwasis

Diwali News

5 November 2013

Dadi was happy to participate in the Diwali celebrations in Manmohini Van last evening. It was beautiful to be in the Brahmalok foyer, and recall how Baba has brought us from the early days of Om Niwas to this massive home of Madhuban, and service across Bharat and the oceans. Each Brahmin's face and activity are lovely. Each one has the capacity to strengthen the honour of this family by living by the codes of conduct. We simply have to remain obedient and faithful to One. Our spiritual love for one another has brought us this far. Spread the waves of love and sakaash! Let souls of the world received these vibrations and be empowered to end their sorrow and pain.

Baba would like for us to clean our memory track, attitude and heart of all past sanskars, waste, accounts etc, but some have the question: How can we instantly do that without analysing the issues and going into the depth of the root causes etc etc? How can we just focus on our complete and perfect stage? So Dadi says when one spends time going into the depth of knowledge and all the spiritual attainments received since birth, then waste cannot enter our memory track. We are easily able to resolve things, take lessons from the past and move on. Have the aim of keeping 'sustenance (Palna)' and 'the study (Padayi)' in your awareness and everything else (memory track, attitude, vision, actions) will be coloured by that.

Diwali News from the Mountain

1 November 2013

Gyan Sarovar family celebrated Diwali beautifully on 31st evening. As every year, a procession brought the Dadis and Seniors up to Harmony Hall. Every corner was carefully and lovingly decorated. The Russian family presented several dances on the themes of 'Flame and the Moths', 'A Sparkling Point of Light came from Paramdham and ignited every single light on earth...' and of course their famous performance in praise of 'Bharat as the land where a golden sparrow resides on every branch...' Didi Nirmala, as host, shared a lovely welcome and the wish that we continue to honour Diwali till the day that the light of every human being gets ignited.

Our renunciation and tapasya have given us the fortune of becoming God's servers. We just have to pay attention to staying away from both 'prabhav me aana (to be influenced by others)' and 'dutkar karna (to dislike, rebuff/reject another)'. When you decorate your drishti with spirituality, and keep a pure attitude with the awareness of 'Baba', yoga will always be easy.

Dadi feels Baba is pulling everyone at Amritvela and evening yoga, so at those times sit with Baba and spread rays to the entire world. Experience Baba as the Sun of Knowledge in the morning, and Ocean of Coolness in the evenings... Let us end every day with the firm feeling that whatever happened in drama was good. Past is past. It should not be difficult to forget the past, as it's a grave loss to continually think of the past. With wisdom and honesty, we continue to bring souls closer to Baba.

News from Sr Jayanti

31 October 2013

On 31 October, my last day in Madhuban, Dadi really wanted me to visit the Solar Site to give them Diwali toli, greetings and a short class which they appreciated. After that I came back to translate for Dadi for Br Golo. Dadi is really focused on helping the Solar Project, it seems. She is giving them lots of special attention. She then asked Golo to send the other main instruments to meet her, so another group of four came later to meet her.

Dadi asked me to go up the mountain to GS to do class with the DFs. Dadi has been sharing so many beautiful points over the last couple of nights, and wanted me to share that too. Going up to GS I saw Meditation Hall totally packed. Souls were sitting on that little staircase leading up the from ground floor through to the Sound Room, and there were some standing at the end also.

The theme was ‘Spirit of Happiness' and within that I brought in Dadi's points of Chitt (memory track) and Vrutti (attitude). I had asked Dadi where does the vrutti come from? What creates the vrutti? Dadi said it's our thoughts.  When our thoughts are elevated and pure, our vrutti is elevated and pure. With that power, we can transform the negative vrutti of others as Baba told us to in the recent Avyakt Murli. Our vrutti also creates the atmosphere. Dadi gave the example of Baba's room and how we still take benefit from that atmosphere because of the vrutti Baba had and the tapasya that Baba did there. It still helps souls to come closer to God and feel upliftment.

Dadi also shared that if my thoughts are influenced by another human being, either because I like them or I don't like them, then this damages the soul to the point that it's not able to have yoga. The negative vrutti that's created as a result of this also impacts others and the atmosphere. There is also the subject of Tyaag-vrutti, Vairagya-vrutti and Upraam-vrutti. Tyaag (sacrifice) to really let go, and to know that nothing is mine; even let go of the good that has happened because that also can lead to ego; let go of the bad that's happened because I don't want to carry the burden of that, and then it's easy to have no desires or Anaasakht-vrutti. The tyaag and the vairaag (state of no passions, where the passions have calmed down) go together. Then one reaches the state of anaasakt (no desires) and upraam (up above, nothing touches me). Dadi mentioned how Chitt and Vrutti are connected: my memories come back and disturb what's going on in my mind and intellect and so of course my vrutti gets affected. Everything may be fine, but then a memory comes up, I see somebody or hear something and this creates a disturbance in the mind, and then the intellect's yoga finishes, and my attitude gets disturbed. So you can see how Dadi has been taking things on a really deep and subtle level, and that's the level of efforts being asked of us at the present moment.

I came down the mountain immediately after class. In Shantivan, that Dadi had met the whole family from Sangam Bhawan (Baba's home near the Railway Station in Abu Road). They are not celebrating Diwali this year as they are honouring Palu Dadi who left body in August. Dadi called the whole group to meet with her, and gave them lots of love and blessings etc.

News from Sr Jayanti

9 October 2013

It was good to be with the Europe/Middle East/UK/Africa participants of Peace of Mind this morning, from 9.30am-12noon in Meditation Hall of Pandav Bhawan. The design team specially wanted the groups to experience Pandav Bhawan in a small setting. The topic was Karma and there were very lively questions, including one from a brother from Iceland. He said, "I don't agree with the way my money is being used by the government. I pay 35% of my salary in taxes, so can I stop paying taxes?" My reply was, "You'll get yourself in trouble, and you'll also get the Brahma Kumaris into trouble if you do that". Then of course I gave a more detailed response. But everybody loved the question, and really laughed at the answer.
