‘Yoga Facilitates Self & God Realization’- Sakshi Maharaj

New Delhi, June 21:  Red Fort Grounds witnessed a mammoth gathering of about fifty thousand white-clad yoga practitioners who assembled, not only to showcase the efficacy of India ancient Yoga in restoring health and wellness, but also to demonstrate the collective yogic powers on looming clouds to stop from raining and drenching the ground.

Rajyogi Br Brijmohan, Chief Spokesman of the Brahma Kumaris Vishwa Vidyalaya which organized this biggest yoga event in Delhi with the support of Ministry of AYUSH, said that regular practice of Rajyoga could not only enable us to control our sense organs and inner negative nature, but also to cool down and conquer the outer five elements of nature.

102 years old Chief of Brahma Kumaris, Rajyogini Dadi Janki from Mount Abu, in blessing the occasion with her forceful words of wisdom and with yogic power of inner peace, poise and positivity, said that yoga is much more than hatha yoga. It is an art of knowing the inner self in its true perspective and remaining in loving remembrance of the Supreme Being in all human relations in order to conquer ego, inner vices, weaknesses, addictions and attachments to worldly entities.

She said that the practice of Raj-yoga results in inner empowerment, which is essential for experiencing and restoring holistic health, harmony and happiness in self and human society. She said that Raj-yoga, being a form of intellectual & mental communion with God, could be practised while performing  one’s daily duties and that it would empower the practitioner to cultivate truthfulness, righteousness, cleanliness and simplicity as well as avoid wasteful, vicious and negative thoughts, word and deeds.

Lok Sabha MP Sakshi Maharaj, as the Special Guest on the occasion, echoed the wisdom of Dadi Janki by saying that self realization and God realization were the quintessence of all sacred scriptures and religious texts. Spiritual yoga or Raj-yoga is the way to attain these higher stages of life, he said. He presented his book ‘Gita-Ek Yoga Shastra’ to Dadiji and to other inter-faith leaders on the stage.

Rajyogini Asha Didi, Main Program Coordinator of the event, said that yoga is a powerful tool which not only connects the mind, body and spirit in harmony, but also brings significant positive changes in one's lifestyles. By practising yoga on a daily basis, one can become a peaceful and loving soul and can carry out worldly duties with balance and with a sense of emotional detachment from worldly powers and possessions.

Ludhiana, June 18: Ahead of the International Yoga Day, a camp was organised at the Rose Garden by the Ludhiana branch of the Brahma Kumaris Spiritual University. A consultant physician, Dr BK Sachin, who was the resource person on the occasion, spoke on "Rajyoga to Strengthen Mind and Intellect." The camp was inaugurated by Ludhiana Mayor Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria.

The university offers many graduate, postgraduate, and diploma courses in value education. The institution is unique in itself as it helps bring personal, familial and social harmony through rajyoga teachings. Dr Sachin has been associated with the organisation for the past 13 years.

The programme, which was of two hours duration, began at 5:30 am with participants doing exercises and yoga asanas. More than 600 people attended the camp.

Dr Sachin apprised participants about the meaning and importance of yoga. He said, “The meaning of yoga is re-union and discipline. It’s the union of body with mind, mind with intellect, intellect with soul and soul with the supreme soul.” He said Patanjali yoga comprised eight components — yamas, niyamas, aasanas, pranayamas, pratyar (external), dharna, dhyan, samadhi (internal). “The most popular, aasana and pranayam, are only two parts of yoga. Rajyoga is the complete and ultimate stage of yoga. It answers the sutle purpose of yoga,” he added.

He said, “For physical ailments, aasanas and pranayam are good, but rajyoga meditation gives solutions for all intended difficulties. It makes us realise our real self, which is calm, pure, peaceful, happy and beautiful, similar to the Supreme Soul.”

International Day of Yoga 2017

16 May 2017

Dear Family,

Greetings of peace. We are just about a month away from celebrating the 3rd International Day of Yoga. As in the past two years, we are sure that you are working closely with the Indian High Commissions, Embassies, and Consulates in your country.

At the UN headquarters in New York we have participated in the planning meetings hosted by the Ambassador of India to the UN, and their focus for this year is on health.

We, the Brahma Kumaris at the United Nations, and the International Day of Yoga Committee at the UN are hosting a program on June 22 titled Yoga: The Ultimate Connection. The highlight of this event is a conversation between Sister Shivani and a high level person in New York City, who has a daily practice of meditation.

Please find below a brief write-up on the topic, which you may find useful in organizing your local programs.

We would appreciate if you could post on the BKUN facebook page events you are planning for the International Day of Yoga as a build up to June 21, as well as posting the actual events on the day they happen.

If there is anything we can do to help support your local event, please do let us know.

In Baba’s yaad and seva

• Yoga connects a person to the source of life and opens the heart and clears the mind.

• Yoga connects a person to their authentic self, awakening the conscience and harmonizing one’s spiritual trajectory of awareness, attitude, and action.

• Yoga provides one with the ability to tap into a space of greater creativity to receive inspiration and a sense of purpose.

• Yoga connects the hearts of people from all walks of life to each other through its unifying force and through the web of life.

There are many ways to experience how yoga joins people, communities, organizations, and institutions. When we come together, through these practices, we feel belonging, act collectively and transform our lives, our societies and our planet.

This alchemy, whether within the self or among people, is the essence of our sacred humanity and is the cause for celebration.
